have a good time, JJ. bring back some pics.
Had a fun time at the lunch and then went to humane society to work with the rescued dogs. They are all in pretty good physical shape, but most are pretty scared. It will take a lot of time with them. I wasn't able to even coax any of them out of their cages. one only came as close as a foot from me to get a bite of hot dog and then slunk back into the corner.
Would love to see photos with names! Sorry I missed the luncheon, but maybe next time. We are hours away from leaving to see our Navy guy in Hawaii. I hope that he will be able to give us a tour of the base, or have someone under his command to do it for him. We are looking forward to seeing him and his family since we have not seen them for 15 months. Until next time.....
Wish I could of been there had it planned but my vehicle was getting worked on so no wheels. Hope to make it to the next get together. I miss talking to my Navy Moms.
Yes, I too wish to thank Mrs. Andy for setting up our January get together. Both myself and my sailor's Oma (Grandma) thoroughly enjoyed the luncheon and meeting wonderful Moms of sailors. PHOTO???
Mrs. Andy - thanks for arranging the lunch yesterday. It was really great to get to meet everyone. Looking forward to our next get together. mom of MM/Lori
I have it on my calendar. I will check again with Kelli if she will be able to come with me.
O darn! I will be getting ready for our trip to Hawaii. Sorry. It would have worked out perfect if it had been a week earlier. Maybe next time.
I think this one might just work for me. It will be about an hour and 20 min drive for me from Mankato so will check with the other moms from down here about comimg up together. So count me in.
Here is some more info for those wanting to set something up for a luncheon:
Setting up a luncheon is not that hard to do. Whoever picks the restaurant, picks the date and time as well. We are from all over, so you will have a different group wherever you have it. There are about 6 or 8 that are from the North side (Coon Rapids, Ham Lake, Cambridge, North St. Paul, White Bear Lake, etc) and a bunch from the South side (Bloomington, Egan, Northfield, Mankato, etc) and then there as some that are from the far West side (St, Cloud, Princeton, Kimball, Richmond, etc) plus there are some from the Far East side (East St. Paul, Stillwater, etc.) as well. So you are not going to please everyone all the time. Besides, people may find out that a group that meets South may be a better "fit" for them, while the ones from the North side might be just what they need. Different personalities everywhere. Some place that is easy to get to is always a benefit.
Setting something up a week or 10 days out works out well since if you post it too early, people forget or things come up. We have had luncheons set up in Roseville where 2 moms came and we have had luncheons at the Northtown location where 6 to 8 moms come. We have had them South where 5-8 moms came, so you just never know who might show up! We have even had some proud fathers show up once in a great while. One just never knows!
The time of the month also has to do with "regularity" and some moms like to have the luncheons the same weekend every month. Otherwise, if you have one on the first weekend and the next month you have it the last weekend and maybe the next month you have it the second weekend...well you get the idea. Time in-between becomes an issue.
So, if you are thinking about it...go for it! I am sure, wherever you have it, somebody will be there! I think everyone likes the 1:00 time, since before you know it....it is 3:00 and we are still there talking about our kids. Plus, it is at that prefect time when traffic is not going to be an issue, either going there or going back home.
Alway encourage photos and go with an open mind with the idea that you are going to have a great time! Sometimes the laughs are more important than anything else. It is a time for the Moms to get out of the house and be with others that are going through the same thing.
Hi Ladies
I'm in Red Wing, and I say go for the 4th weekend. As of right now that day is open for me, and I'm ok with not an early coffee thing either :) I'm about an hour south of Minneapolis. I have attended one Navy mom get together it was a good time. I will watch for postings and WELCOME Ericka
