my son got home last night about 1am -- his flight from Detroit was delayed.  Even though the dogs woke me up when he got home, his hug was worth it.

Run away if you must, JJ, but do come back.  We want to hear the stories!

Oh Great....now you have me crying!!  I will have to tell all the girls my story about the soldier I picked up at Christmas time and surprised his family.  Remind me when we are all together, otherwise I will forget.  It was one of the best things I got for that Christmas (A big Thank You from a young soldier coming home). He still has part of my heart, even if he doesn't know it. Or the other story I have when my (then) boyfriend and I picked up my brother in an ice storm. (Can you tell I am from Minnesota?)  Best be hitting the sheets. The husband and I are running away tomorrow. Yes, by ourselves!!

Have a great 4th of July everybody.  You will be in my prayers, right next to all our heroes!

Thank you all.  Day one with the sailor was great!

And thank you for the birthday wishes. (It's not until Tuesday, but I haven't had my sailor home since Boot Camp for it.  It's a great present  :)

All of you enjoy a Happy and safe Fourth of July weekend.  I know you remember why we can celebrate.    We are the Home of the Free - Because of the Brave!

I feel the same way, MidwestNavyMom!  It's like they are all one big happy family, and if I can shake the hand of a Sailor, I am that much closer to my own!

Carol --- Awesome news!!  Enjoy your Sailor!  And happy birthday!

MN Sunshine - Enjoy PIR! It is amazing. I still have a lot of the pictures we took in September there as my screen saver at work:-)

Carol - That is awesome (your surprise)! I hope for that sometime. I think that would be one of the best surprises!! Enjoy having him home on your birthday.

I saw a Sailor at the park I run/walk around a couple weekends ago. She surprised her family too. I stopped to tell her thank you and shook her hand, then we talked a little.  When she asked where my son was stationed I got a little misty eyed (happens at random times) and her family with her said don't worry about it (I apologized for getting teary) and said it happens all the time to them too. Then I saw 3 Sailors at MOA so I told them thank you also and shook their hands. Somehow it makes me feel a little closer to my son when I see other Sailors.

Hi, have fun at PIR, it's fantastic.  My sailor surprised me this morning, and walked in the door.  My niece picked him up from the airport at midnight, and he slept at my sister's.  Then my husband went to get him this morning.  WOW!!  Now I get to enjoy him for a bit, and over my birthday, too!
