My husband and I just joined the patriot guard.  We have a friend who is in the military who is still a member and thought we might be interested.  We were at the home comming for him.  They were a Army unit that returned from tour of duty.  I new that I wanted to be apart of this group who has so much pride for your soldiers.  It was fantastic to see.  Thanks for the video.

Wow, so much happens when I don't check in once in a while.  Just had a visit from our son and now he is off to Gulf Port, MS.  This is the 3rd goodbye and instead of getting easier I cried more :)  After MS he heads to Port Hueneme, CA.  After all this snow I think we might need to visit him there.

We will be flying to Goose Creek to see our sailor on the 17th.  Meeting on the following weekend might work for me.

Is it really March already???

I haven't heard anything, but I'm open the 19th or 26th.

Anybody else?

Thanks for showing the video.  We do need to remember there are wonderful people who care about military families at all times.

Thanks, ladies!!

JJ --- That video was the Patriot Guard, I think ... what they did at one particular funeral ... made my tear up, just thinking that they care so much to protect the families of fallen soldiers from even more pain.

There are many, many GOOD groups that ride and protect the families of fallen soldiers during their time of sorrow.  One group that is here in Minnesota is the Patriot Guard and you don't even have to be a member to belong.  Many times the Patriot Guard has been at a funeral where a group has "tried" to be disruptive, and they took care of the matter right there and then.  (Most groups that protest can not be within a certain number of feet of the family.) There are many motorcycle groups that ride all over the USA and other countries that are more than willing to "stand up for our rights" and do the right thing. Most back the military and their families. However, there are a few that do not agree with ANYTHING that the military stands for or does. We fight for everyones' right, even for those that we do not agree with. America!  We thank you!

Another congrats to the new Navy Moms!  I'm told PIR is amazing and I can't wait for my son's.  He is a DEPper until Oct 4th and he'll be going to Goose Creek, SC after boot camp.  My husband keeps telling me to relax about everything and get him graduated from high school!  It's hard not to look ahead though, I'm so proud of the path he's chosen.
