Three cheers......Eric Robert is back in port! Called this afternoon to say he needs batteries! WHAT??? then he said "I love you, Mom". I wanted to cry! Good to have him back on dry land.

Julie....You must be so very proud!! Congrats!
Now for the news...Eric Robert may NOT be coming backso soon as we thought. Thank you Hurricane Earl...Somehow we just can't make any excuses for the weather. Dang. So, with another hurricane coming right afterwards, Diane and Baby Kate might not seeing their favorite man for awhile. Since the ships are safer at sea than in port, I can only send out prayers that all will OK and will get home safe and sound. No word as to their new station, but we have been told that there is a chance Bahrain is on the list, as well as Florida, California and Hawaii. Any of those would work, all are great places to be stationed. Since we have been to all of those places, I can't say that any would be a bad place to be for three years. At least it would give me an excuse to be some place warm in the winter time!! LOL Although I am not a huge fan of California, I am not the Navy Department and you go where they want you. I am hoping that Eric only has two more major moves left before he is done and can retire. But who knows for sure if he will continue to stay in or leave after 26 years. He really loves what he does, so it is any body's guess at this time.
Robin----any plays for a September get together?? Time has just flown by!

We had a very good experience at the Residence Inn in Waukegan. (Jan 29, 2010)
The two suites were spacious and comfortable with kitchenettes and sofa beds in addition to the queen beds. The facility is quite new and well sound-proofed. They served a light supper Monday though Thursday in addition to a very hearty hot breakfast 7 days a week. It was a quick drive to the base as well as Gurnee Mills Mall. We were completely satisfied I got the tip to go there from a travel agent N4M friend.

Our son was grad-and-go, which meant he left town early Saturday morning. We were issued a visitors' pass by the airline at check in which allowed us to go through security and wait with our son until his flight left. That way we were able to give him his cell phone, MP3 player, etc. to carry with him rather than waiting for the address and mailing these items later.
We spent a bit of time in the USO lounge, but found it too crowded for comfortable conversation, but just down the hall from the USO lounge is a chapel which was empty when we were there. It was the perfect place for our last conversation.
You will never forget your PIR weekend experience.
P.S. Don't forget to have your child provide the airline with his frequent flyer number. If he is traveling for the first time on that airline, he can sign up for the FF program online or at check-in.

That's one of those emotions that you won't forget soon! Isn't it just the best thing ever to hear the voice of your sailor? I am so happy for you. As time goes on, he won't be quit so tired. Just let him know that you love him and that will help him make it through.

Yay! We got our first call last night:-) He sounded tired, but good. It was so good to talk to him. We were all home so everyone got to talk:-)

Julie - Thanks for the heads up on the Best Western. I've seen people recommend the Ramada and the Navy Lodge.

When you do the monthly get togethers is it usually in the metro area?
