I agree with Carol. Thanks for checking into it JJ!
I guess we could try Denny's, and have Bakers Square as a back up. I thing that those two would be quieter than than Applebees. Just my opinion.
Happy Spring (maybe finally?) to all :)
I Have been doing some checking. The Denny's by Northtown does have a back room, HOWEVER it is not "guaranteed since they do not take reservations. It's first come first served. The other option would be Applebees, just on the other side of Northtown. It is fairly large and they could sit our group together at a table. Might be quieter the Buffulo Wild Wings. Then there is Bakers Square, which is across Highway 10 from Northtown. It too is quiet and they can sit us in the back of the restaurant. So there you have it. Of course NONE of them have reservations so we are at the mercy of others that are there before us. Let me know what you all think.
Welcome Catherine to our group! If you have any questions, just ask. Someone will have the answer for you or can direct you. Please plan to attend any of our get togethers in the furture. We love to hear about "our Kids" and share pictures. As some of us know, there are some Navy Moms who have their sailors home for good, but we have such a bond, they still come! Once a Navy Mom, ALWAYS a Navy Mom!! And that's great for the rest of us!!
Amy, I ordered the I Love My Sailor coffee mug from this site: www.armedforcesgear.com
Once you sign up on this site, they will occasionally send you a coupon which I was able to use when I ordered the 'unbirthday gift' along with a thing or two I wanted I just ordered myself one of those same coffee mugs this morning!!
JJ - Denny's works for me. My daughter and I ate there a couple years ago and I remember getting alot of good food at a good price. I think if coming from the south the easiest way would be to turn at the lights on University, as if going to Michaels craft store, and get to the service road from there.
Diane - I wanted to mention that when my olderst stepdaugher got her first apartment I bought her a hanging plant from Bachman's; 8 years and 2 moves later she is very proud that she still has the plant! Also, when at PIR we at Flanagans Bar & Grill, extensive menu, good price and not far from the base. And lastly, not to be gross, I wish I would have brought a roll of Charmin with me. He assured me the hotel tp was like a cloud compared to boot camp tp, and using a private bathroom was almost top priority!
Betty - so glad your son's second excursion was much better. I have heard of the 'fish' before, but wasn't sure of the meaning. Also, would you be willing to share where you got the mug you gave as a gift? I wouldn't mind having one myself:)
We are enjoying sleety Sunday weather here, ugh.
I thoroughly enjoyed our 'Let's Celebrate Everybody's Birthday' luncheon yesterday. It was great seeing everyone and meeting new Navy family. Thank you for my gift which was the beautiful yellow flowered plant and the post it notes.
I also wanted to mention that my sailor who is on a sub said that after he qualified and earned his 'fish' that life got easier on his next excursion. You have some 'freedoms' which you don't get until you 'qualify'.
It was great meeting everyone today. I look forward to getting to know all of you better and learning more about the Navy and the Navy ways. It was great today and Tom enjoyed it too! Thanks
It was a great time, I enjoyed meeting everyone. It is fun being able to talk about our sailors and all the stuff we have in common. Thanks JJ for organizing!! Hopefully I can make it again soon. Thanks Betty for my mug, I love it. Ann
I have given this a lot of thought and I AM going to try to book Denny's back room for the next time we meet on the North side. I will check into it a bit more to make sure that there is no charge for the room and when it is available. Hope that is good for the rest of you. The only issue I have with Denny's is that it is hard to get into from the south. But I know all the different routes to get there, so I will work on it!! And yes, we have to get to know Diane, Tom, Amy and Ann a little better. We have all become little a small family and I like that. Remember: Once a Navy Mom, always a Navy Mom!!
