Does anyone know about pictures? I am hearing different things.......Will I be able to buy them there? Hope I am not too late.......Shoot.......
Joshmom--the extra cash always goes to the kids, doesn't it? Most of it anyway. The care packages are not getting where they need to be right now due to address confusion. One envelope I sent while he was still at his home base went from here to WA to NY and back to here as undeliverable. A 9 week trip for $1.52. No wonder the USPS is going broke. Wish I could travel that far for less than 2 dollars!
Hi Missouri group--my SR went to GL on May 2 . Just found you while checking out the "A" school group
Maryanne - you crack me up! Don't take that the wrong way....I'm laughing with you not at you! You're bringing back wonderful memories for me. As for eating places, I would suggest going to Gurnee Mills. It has a shopping mall and there are lots of restaurants in the area. My sailor wanted seafood so we went to Joe's Crab Shack. As for shirts...well I'm laughing right now cuz the only info me and my bootcamp sista's could get out of our kids was "Bad Ass" LOL......nuff said!!!! Be sure to let us know when you get the "I'm a Sailor" call.....I was on pins & needles that day. We know our kids can do it but until we actually hear them say those three words we're a wreck! Glad to hear your son is doing so well and I've got my fingers crossed you'll get a phone call.
joshmom,he also said he ordered shirts for us! Not sure if he wrote that wrong or what....What kind of shirts could he have possibly gotten me,his 3 year old son or whoever? Now he has me confused...........
joshmom,I am starting to cry every single time I read a post now.......I can hardly stand it......It is worse than a child at Christmas or Birthday.......I just want next week to get here...........I just got another letter,he is doing great!!!!! He said he should be calling me on Friday...........Oh my goodness,I want next week to get here............Thanks for writing all the time and all your help.......He would love a good burger, any suggestions???
Hi CherylB and all Missouri moms! I Hooray for visits and congratulations on that new baby girl in the family. I'm glad you popped up on our radar! Hope you are feeling healthy and happy this spring.
My sailor is doing OK, daughter just attended prom and will graduate Tuesday, and I have started a part time job so I won't be home alone in the empty nest this fall.
Maryanne and stlgrl68--PIR will be so awesome you can't even imagine right now. Do visit P'cola if you can. It's a lot of fun and beautiful. Pretty steamy after the first of June though.
Joshmom--Just a big old HELLO to you!
Here's a prayer request from another page: A sailor named Daniel who is stationed in OK and his 23rd birthday is today was in a very bad motorcycle accident there in OK on Saturday. His mom drove from 12 hours from Missouri to get to him. (I don't know if she actually lives in Missouri.) He is in ICU. He had so much blood transfused that they are holding blood drives in his name to replenish the supply. Our sister OK navy moms are taking care of his mom while she is there. Prayers for healing and comfort.
Maryanne - I can hear the excitement in your voice!!!!! I didn't realize you were so close to PIR. It will be one of your "Proudest Mom" days ever. PIR takes place in the drill hall (which is huge) and it's bleacher seats. Don't worry there will be signs showing where each division will be so you'll know what section to sit in. I strongly suggest getting there early. Don't forget the tissues....you're going to need them when you see those Sailors come marching in! I still get teary eyed just thinking about it.
stlgrl68 - keep those questions handy in case you get a phone call....those calls are so precious when they're in bc. If your son is Aviation Mech he'll go to P'cola. It's a great place to visit...my son did his A school down there.
joshmom,Hi yes,I am Mary Anne and I am in St Louis........I can hardly stand it anymore,I am just so anxious to get there next week and see how this all goes. My son is my 1st military exp ever. I am learning all kinds of things and everyone on this site has been so helpful and so nice. What kind of seats do they have for graduation? Are they regular chairs, bleachers? It look's like it is indoors.........I just cannot wait..........
