Joni, those are the "nightmares" of teenage years, but become the "smiles of gratitude" in the "old age of the 30's" !! Ha. Yes, they are our babies FOREVER, no escaping it! My mom used to tell us that it won't matter if we are 80+, we will always be her babies, and I now see the reality in that statement!

Hi Joni! I'm Baack! Had a few difficult and long days of work. I agree with you, to get 'mail'- I can feel for those in BC! I really sympathize in the need for mail, and to hear when some don't...just makes you wanna cry!! (And adopt them! Ha!) Yes, seeing a 'dirty sock' stuck in a deep dark corner of a closet, or retrieving an old ornament when pulling out/putting up decorations for the next holiday ( in this case, Easter) which was one they had made years ago...you start to think back on them. So, I can give some empathy to you for that moment of thinking some young man looked/reminded you of your son... Let us contemplate of these things...are they out of diapers already?! Sure does go by in a blur!

Lanita, we cant be strong all the time, that is why we have searched on the web, and found this site! And personally, I think someone "greater" lead us here, and knew we needed a friend to support us, while in turn we support them also in their time of need. Tears can do the soul good, and we all have big shoulders! Pam, will be thinking and praying for you, too. Sorry you have this to go thru.

It was real nice here in Springfield, Missouri today. We went to church this morning and while there, it started sprinkling a little bit. By the time church was over. it had stopped and the sun came out. My husband should be coming home from Nebraska some time tomorrow. It will be kind of nice to see him again after a week. He was up there visiting our son who has been stationed there for the next three years at the Air Force Base for his first shore duty. In December, he will have 7 years in and come February, he will probably reenlist for another 4 years. He really is likinf the Navy and I am real happy for him.

I am in Springfield, Missouri. I am interested in any meet and greets for Moms, Dads and girlfriends or any other activities in my area. My son is now stationed in Nebraska and his Dad is there with him right now helping him to unpack his personal belongings that just arrived from San Diego. I was supposed to go but fell last Sunday and broke two bones in my left hand. ouch.

God does work in mysterious ways! One never fully knows or understands His directions sometimes, but we have to be trusting in Him, and He shall prevail! He WANTS to fight our battles, but we have to take it to Him!
In so saying...glad that it is working out for you to spend the time with your son and do the things that he is wanting to do. Sure hope the weather also holds out, so that it will be even more enjoyable!
Joni, sorry that I just missed your message! I know what you mean, I tried numerous times to get the music on my page up a while back, and I think it just made me go thru the acknowlegement of not caring to try again! So, if and WHEN (cause I have faith that YOU are smarter than I and will succeed!) you get it up, I shall have to go and have a 'listen'! Just let me know!

Lanita, I know how you feel. My son has been in Japan for 2 years and his older brother has not seen him since December 2006. When he finally came home for a visit last month, my older son's boss would not let him have the time off that he asked for. He let someone else off that asked for the time off after my son asked. He is constantly doing that to him. Well my younger Navy son called his company and asked what kind of company does not honor the military by letting their employees off to visit with a family member who has been out of the country for 2 years. I will keep you in my prayers. Hope you get the time off that you need to visit with your son. Tell him that Navy Moms are behind him 100% for what he is doing for the rest of us. I am always praying for all our military sons, daughters, husbands and wives.

Thanks Joni. If we see that we can come down your way, I will let you know.

Ah yes! Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year too! And I agree, when it gets a bit chilly, damp and wet, misty out, reminds me of living in Colorado, late fall, and that stuff turning over into snow! I love those kind of snows, too. Wet, big flakes slowly drifting down....wait, I want spring now! Ha.\
Yes, within a few miles of the river. It is up quite high, and many of the rivers filling into it is already flooded, but today are slowly receeding. As long as we have a while before the next rains, it will be fine. Even tho the smaller rivers spilling in are over banks, most are not causing serious damage at the moment. Thanks for caring tho! Your so awesome! If it wasnt so dangerous, I would love
to take a kayak out in those smaller rivers and flow fast down stream!

Oh Joni! Maybe send a little of that "chilly 50's" up this way! We won't complain! Ha. Yes, the wind died down finally, but we have been having rain too. We received a little over 3 in. each of the past 2 days, yep...that IS equivalent to 6 inches! You guessed it, now it is FLOODING! Talk about your extremes! St. Louis has not gotten the brunt of the Mighty Mississip's wrath just yet. All that rain up north with what we had is slowly making it's way south. All of our rivers around here are either full banks or running over. Well, that is making this 3 yrs in a row in floods. Not sure of the record?? but gotta be close!
Melissa, and Pam, sure hope things start to get better for you both!

Thanks Joni and Pam. It is starting to feel a little better. The hand specialist said that I do not need surgery but I am off work until 03/18/09 and then if I can not type, I need to let him know and he will consider extending my time off. I can type with my right hand but the left hand is the one that gives me trouble. Hope everything is going good with your family and your Navy guys and gals.

I don't know what it was here in Springfield, but I know it was cold. I broke my hand on Sunday at lunch and had to go to the hand specialist today. I could not get a pair of jeans on because I did not have anyone here to help me so I had to wear a pair of pull on shorts. Brrrrr.
