ceej--our sailor is based out of King's Bay, but currently in dry dock up in Portsmouth, VA. Hope you get to visit in KB. We got there twice between his deployments and had a great time.
My son is still at DLI and should be finished in August. If all goes well he will head to Georgia in the fall.
SandySea - I feel your pain or at least your anxiety. My youngest son graduates high school next month and then he's off to UCM so we too will be empty nesters. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that yet. If nothing else my grocery bill should go down dramatically.
Happy Friday! Hope everyone is dry and ok today. Way too much rain yesterday!
KWL - Congrats to your son and fingers crossed that he gets leave to come home.
Maryanne - Welcome to the Navy world! Sounds like your son is doing well except for those teeth Ouch! Best of luck to him and to you too! It can be a wild ride but a wonderous one too.
SandySea - Hope you get a phone call soon and prayers that all goes well for your son. Mine will be heading out on his first deployment soon too. He's looking forward to it. Share pics of your daughters prom & graduation. Kids they grow up too fast!
Take care everyone and so nice to hear from you! Keep posting!!!!!
My son graduates A school on May 10 (in CT), then he might be home a few days before going to Kingsbay, GA to be on a sub.
Hi SandySea,well I got my 1st letter from my son in bootcamp.......I was thrilled to get it and had a phone call last Saturday........I miss him terribly but he says he really likes it other than he is tired....He passed his 1st swim test and had to have all his wisdom teeth pulled,yuck............
Hey Missouri Moms! Time for a roll call!
My sailor is on his first deployment. We are getting a few emails but no phone calls or Skype yet. My daughter is having a birthday party this weekend (18 already) and looking forward to prom and graduation. I am not looking forward to the empty nest this fall.

leigh is at PIR - WooHoo!!!!!! I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it! Such an awesome ceremony.
Good Morning Ladies!
leigh - Don't worry you'll get plenty of hugs. Once liberty is called after PIR the entire drill hall becomes a hugging frenzy! My son told me that they were given orders right before PIR started to hug their moms first!!!! I don't remember all the restrictions while on liberty but they have to stay in uniform and the Sailors are VERY particular about that uniform...as well they should be they worked hard to earn the right to wear it and oh how proud they are! It's amazing how the Navy turns our children into such fine young men/women. When we went out to eat I sat across from my Sailor and made the mistake of putting my elbows on the table crossed my fingers and rested my chin on them just because I wanted to stare at him and listen to him talk....well he immediately informed my elbows DO NOT belong on the table! WOW that wasn't the same kid who left home - my boy had manners! Have a wonderful trip and please check in with us when you get back.
Nancy - Welcome to the roller coaster ride! Keep us informed about your daughter and thank her for joining the worlds greatest Navy!
