Hi all, so glad to see new members aboard.

Kelly, so good to hear from you, been awhile!!

I know it's been awhile for me too.   Never knew being a grandma would change my life so much.   I LOVE IT!!!   I'm working and babysitting every chance I get.

My sailor son was home for Christmas over New Years, was a blast, but went way to fast.  Making plans to see him over Easter, Norfolk here we come. :-))

My oldest daughter got engaged right before Christmas. Wedding is September 21st. They are having an outside wedding at Little Piney Lodge near Hermann, Mo. So exciting, she has done all the work booking everything, all she has asked from me is money so far. LOL

I would love to meet everyone in Columbia, I didn't make it to the last one.  :-((

Leigh,

I'm in Kansas City.  There is about six or eight of us that I am aware of from the Kansas City area.  Four of us met for lunch last spring.  At that time we talked about how much fun it might be if all of the Missouri Mom's could meet together and Columbia would be half-way for a lot of us.

Anyone else interested?

Leigh-

I forgot to ask.  What part of Missouri do you live?

Comment by ceej on February 16, 2013 at 1:24pm

Welcome Leigh!

I feel for where you are at right now.  My son left for bootcamp in April 2012 and it was the hardest eight weeks ever.  I really didn't anticipate it being so rough.  It gets easier when the letters start to come.  I missed my son's first couple of calls and saved his voicemail just so I could hear his voice.  I can assure you it does get easier especially when they get to school and you can contact each other on your own terms.  Skype and/or Google hangout are a must.  It doesnt feel like they are so far away when you can see their face and hear their voice.

My son is a CTI and living and loving his life in Monterey, California.  He has already built really strong friendships and has grown tremendously as a person in less than 12 months.

Good luck to you.  Join the boot camp mom group and the division mom group. They were a great comfort to me and a great source of information.

BTW - we just got word that my husband's first cousin just made Command Master Chief yesterday!!  We are one proud Navy family!
