Crap I just had a very long comment and lost it! It just disappeared from my screen grrrrrr!  Oh well I'll try again.

Leigh - Keep busy, keep busy, keep busy!  You're daughter really is fine as they keep the recruits very busy up there and always remember "no news is good news".  Write her letters and keep them positive, find cartoons to send or funny cards, anything to make her laugh.  Concentrate on PIR each day you wake up you're one day closer to seeing her.  Start making travel plans, figure out what you'll wear, perhaps she has a favorite cookie you can bake to take to her.  Just keep busy!   A big {{{{{{HUG}}}} for you!  Stay strong!

CherylB - your N4M's vacation sounds great.  There's so much to do in the Branson area.  Are you the hostess?  Hostess with the Mostess  lol   no pun intended you know I think you're awesome!  Perhaps a fishbowl extravaganza!  And yes I got my  wine and chocolate, but of course there's always a bottle of wine in my house!  Isn't wine a must have staple?!!!

Pooks - that's so awesome your daughter is becoming an instructor.  So nice to hear about the Sailors who are making a life long career with the Navy.  Best of luck to her.

YEEHAW Sailors doin there own taxes!!!!!

Meet & Greet bring it on!  I am looking for something to do the weekend of March 9th & 10th hubby and youngest will be gone on the annual all guy trout trip.  I'm either gonna have to do lunch with a wonderful group of ladies (yeah I'm referring to all of you) go shopping or do housework.....haha that last one ain't gonna happen!  lol

Enjoy the day ladies!

Leigh-- if we are planning a meet and greet you will see it on this main page. Once the when and where are worked out then it will get posted as a discussion in the section right above here (Discussion Forum) and we try to get a mom count for reservation purposes. After that it's show up and have fun! Try to stay positive and look to the great life ahead for your daughter. Send her lots of letters and funny cards and PIR will be here before you know it. Keep yourself BUSY!! I'm sure you've heard that all before, but it really does help.

Cheryl--ramble on. I love to read it.

Joshmom and Donna--mine did his own taxes too!

Happy weekend everyone!

This was a long night for me.  Couldn't sleep, just had a lot going through my mind.  As well as missing my daughter.  Help with suggestions please.

Just a question in general.  How can I find out about activities in Mo.  for this group?

Comment by CherylB on February 16, 2013 at 12:19am

Welcome Leigh.

It is so nice to get on here and see some activity!

SandySea I can't believe it has been a year. Seems like he was just leaving.

Joshmom did you get your wine and chocolate???

Seems like mine was just going in and it has been 3 years. He went from being very homesick boy that first week to an amazing man that is now married, bought his own house and has traveled more places than I can dream of. He also loves loves loves his job. My manboy.... just 21 years old.

So who is doing the next Meet and Greet? Spring will be here before you know it.

Speaking of.....I get to see my group of Navy Moms I travel with in May. I am so excited. This year our trip is in MISSOURI!!! How lucky am I? We rented a house near Branson.

Ok rambling now.

Nice to see you all today! Have a great weekend and stay warm and safe!

Hi Leigh and WELCOME!!!  These women are great listeners, have good advice, and really do know what you are feeling and going through! (Plus, they are really nice too!)  You will have to try and come to the next meet and greet!

Welcome Leigh! My daughter is in the process of going to Great Lakes to be an instructor. She's been in the Navy for 9 years now and I couldn't be prouder of her.

Her rate is Aviation Ordnanceman First Class. It gets easier as each day goes by and you'll be so proud when you see her in PIR. She has an awesome life ahead of her. The ladies in this group are a wonderful bunch and are proud to help you in anyway they can.

Hi SandySea so nice to hear from you and glad your son is doing well.  I've been wondering how he's been doing up there in the great North West!  It's so amazing how much they grow up.  Mine just did his own taxes!!!  with no help from mom!!!!

Comment by MaggieMay on February 15, 2013 at 7:35pm

leigh - my son is an ATI (Aviation Tech) he's in Japan serving aboard the USS George Washington.  My son went to C school in Biloxi.  Where in Mississippi will your daughter be going and what is she going for?  Most do not get leave after bc, I'm only aware of the ones graduating around Christmas being allowed to take holiday leave.  Glad to hear you're going to PIR it's a short weekend but well worth it!!!!!!
