I really hope I got this discussion started correctly...file attached and everything. Let me know if there's anything you can't see or if you need something clarified. ROCK & ROLL LADIES!!! NATIONAL HERE WE COME!!!
Hi Dana! Just a couple questions, do I let you know to whom and when I take this press release? BTW your file attachment and everything came thru to me just fine.
2) Can I use the press release when I write a letter to a business requesting a cash or in-kind donation? I worked in fund-raising so my marketing/public relations experience is very small. You must be in marketing or PR?
3) Is there a way to find email addresses for local news media so that I could send it that way?
I think that is it for now. You are doing a great job with handling all the press issues. Thanks,
Donna
Hi Donna. Thank you.
1. Yes, you will post on this thread to whom and where you sent the press release.

2. The press release is not a not-for-profit representative authorization form (corporate letter), however, if the local businesses want to make a donation based on the press release, they can do so. Their monetary donations, of course, by check made out to MAS is a receipt. If the donation is not monetary and they would like a receipt or acknowledgement, then you should get the NFP authorization form from MAS or the information should be sent to Molly and/or the Board. (Molly/Board, correct me if I'm wrong.)

2(b). I'm not specifically in marketing/PR...just 30+ years in various aspects of corporate relations.

3. Many of the news media groups have a contact the editor area on their web pages. Sometimes it's in the bottom banner under "contact us". Some will provide emails and some are just "submit" your information. If there is enought room on the submit info screen, you can copy and past it into the form. If not, ask them to contact you with the info to submit a press release.

Hope this helps...thank you!

Dana
Thanks for the info. I'm done for the night!! I know it is only about 9P EST, but it has been a long emotional day for our family -- our son was a rookie cop with NYPD on 9/11. He escaped Tower One with his life, but lost 6 friends when the South Tower fell. It is just a day full of sadness, relief (for our son), and worry for him today. He was on duty in lower Manhattan today at either Ground Zero or the site of that mosque. Haven't heard from him, but have heard rumors there was some trouble at the mosque site.
I thought I might use the Pepsi press release as part of a case for support. I'm determined to find a corporate sponsor. Just need the right hook to match the company. Let me know if you have any catchy ideas. I got gifts-in-kind from the New England Patriots (football team right down the highway from me, we could walk to the stadium!), used the N.E. Patriots support our true patriots. Corny but it worked. Not much success with Old Navy. I have to find the name of a person higher up the ladder than area manager.
Thanks again for your help. I'd have to say that you ROCK too!
Donna
Yes, that's right Shirley. Thanks, I get a little wordy sometimes...LOL
The more a newscast is viewed shows how important the broadcast is and keeps it in the top news.
8:00 and 9:00 our time is when it will be aired from what I have heard.
I haven't found it online yet. Maybe they will post it after it aires. It is best not to use the FB, Twitter, etc. links or add them to your profiles. Going directly to the link is the best way.

I just emailed the press release to our local paper and stressed more than once that it cannot be altered in any way other than the town and my contact info. If it runs in the paper I will let you know so that Pepsi can be notified. We have a Pepsi distributor about 15 miles away.
That's terrific!!! The more we can hit locally the broader the coverage. Thank you. Thank you. I know Molly is really hoping everyone will find their local media and get the word out. And keep on hitting the news article on www.kgw.com. The number of hits keeps it as top news!
Marybeth, I think Susan contacted the new stations here also. Her dad and my husband belong to the same VFW and we need to see if we can set up a donation bin there. Also we could see if we can use the building for packing parties. I think they would be all for it.
Please include the name of the media, location and contact name...thanks! This is great!
