I found out from Care Packages for Our Troops on Facebook the following:

I was given an address to a young man who was injured over seas and lost both of his legs. His good friend has said that she would love it if people would write to him to lift his spirits the next few months while he is coping with his new life. If you would like his address to write him, his address is:  Terry Honeycutt, 559 Wakefield Drive, Colonial Beach, VA  22443.  Thank you.

Sad update ... We just got word that Terry has actually passed away. he passed away this morning at the Germany hopsital. Please keep his GF and his family in your prayers. <3
Yes this was posted last night and the young man stepped on an IED, also had brain injuries. Bless him and his family

This could be a lesson for us here ~~
We need to be careful when we read these things and want to react too quickly
this was his GF that asked for these things on facebook --- not his mom or family.
Now lets say we sent all these things to this young mans GF and nothing to his mom and family. can you only imagine ??

Not to say we wouldnt send ---but we needed to make sure family knew there was stuff being to sent to this address for him. Now this poor GF I feel so bad for her loosing her BF)
in the future when we see these things we need to really look at who is asking for what !
Off topic but a good time to say
Just because a place says *troops* doesnt mean they check facts or are really for the troops IE: some buinesses say Troop braclets, cakes etc and they are just a buisness saying troops to get you to think they are helping the troops when really they are selling their wares. ((always double /triple check everything you see or hear)) and that include right here on MAS /N4M
if you have someone saying I need XXXXX ---double check make sure someone knows who they are or what they are doing before reaching out .
LOVE and HUGS

and Blessing to this new hero in heaven, his momma, family and poor GF.
Ok I dont want to send like I am lecturing --- I love how loving this groups is
BUT
I also see this group jumps so quickly that I want everyone to always double check everything.
((Not this instance))
BUT other times I see moms get all loving and want to do something wonderful and can get taken advantage of.
I just want everyone to look/listen and if you ever want I can look for you ---Im pretty synical when it comes to *troop supports* I think because I have seen what we have done with no money --that I question all that say they do and I see nothing they have ever done.
TRUE STORY
there was this place that offered cakes for troops ---they spoke about overnight delivery to your deployed for his /her birthday and the cool price of 70.00
well they had over 300 people talking and saying Im going to order one.
1) I knew NO WAY could they promise overnight deplivery to the deployed.
2) they said FED EX ---- FED EX does not deliver to APO/FPO
3) they were just a bakery selling cakes ---- none of this money went to the troops. Just a buisness
yet I saw at least 40 people saying they bought one.

now this place had all rights to sell cakes--but they got people because it was called CAKES for the TROOPS
to make you feel for for the troops
Amen Molly, I could not agree more and the more we grow and others see all the giving love in this group the number of predators will grow just as fast....I'm one of those that would always jump right in ...and not always a good Idea, I have learned....This is so sad it brings reality slamming back at us............huggs to all
Scammers come up with things that us "normal" people would never even think of, cause our minds just don't work the way theirs does. It is SUCH a shame, but we do indeed need to be careful with our loving hearts as well as our checkbooks. Even so many "legitimate" charities siphon off SO much of the $ for "administrative" costs that the people they proport to be helping see only pennies on the dollar!! Such a sad time that we live in, and the speed at which we can communicate via computer makes us ripe for these leeches picking. I'm not saying that this is the case with this young man AT ALL, but just "in general". Our hearts are SO eager and innocent that sometimes we will have to "check" ourselves before jumping in with both feet :( Thanks SO much Molly for your willingness to help us discern whether some of these causes and businesses are legit or not.
Thank you Mommies --- I didnt want to sound rash or harsh, but I can see how loving we are and how many come to us screaming help help. I guess I am not only protective of our troops I am also protective of our Moms.
I should post some of the crazy emails I get of people wanting this and that from us.
How many have asked for us to pay for this or that.
I actually had one lady say I want to know if you will pay for shipping to my sons ship for xmas now, that her and friends were sending packages to them.
Ummmm ???? well Mollys was started for those that dont have Mommies , your son has a great mom.
she got actually got mad. (i thought well you are not a MAS mom obviously because you dont *get it* )
And I think someone wanted to sell us ocean front property in Arizona also. ha ha
Thanks for keeping us all updated and focused Molly...

I know I suggested that the gal post in the MAS room... I imagined that our own Brenda Sue would be checking out the facts for our Special Hugs... and I know we can embrace those entered in the special hugs rooms without hesitation because we know that the addresses and needs and privacy concerns have been checked out!

Molly moms are ready and waiting to send that mom love as soon as needed all over the world... you are all the best!!
