Molly's special hugs are headed for a medical clinic in Kuwait! This is kind of like a MASH unit. Guys and gals pass through this clinic for medical care! So our mission this month is two fold- take care of the wonderful staff that puts themselves on the line every day and send some mom love to those wounded warriors coming through the clinic on their way to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our contact, a Navy nurse says "We get along well in our unit for being strangers to each other, but that is the beauty of being in the military you adapt and overcome. We do that together. We are here to help out the Army medically and we are getting used to their differences. I am glad I was chosen to come here, but I look forward to going home as well. I have 3 boys at home, ages 13, 3, and 1. They are being taken care of by my husband and mother. You can't imagine how much I miss and need them."

So our mission
For the staff- A unit of 20 men and 10 women, some single, some married with children. The women have requested tampons, pads, liners, body sprays, lotions and powders, and finger nail polish (no bright colors). The men have received some packages but would like deodorants and foot powders and such. They do have microwaves so think of fun snacks! They have also requested individual drink mixes! These wonderful caretakers share what they have with those passing through so lets shower them with love!

For the patients- what is better than a note from someone who cares? When you are hurt and far from home a few kind words mean so very much! So lets stock this clinic with cards and letter that they can hand to those brave injured warriors! Along with those wonderful notes, let's send trial size lotions, eye drops, toothpaste and toothbrushes and more! The wounded warriors passing through can pick up what they need and slip it into their pocket with that precious note from home! This clinic serves 40 or more injured in a normal day.

We want to ship our packages from October 24th to October 30th!

This is a great one for our school children out there ----- letters letters letters !! I am hoping that they have to fill large boxes full of letters for our injured.
And for the caregivers ---oh my what wonderful people
Hi Molly, both my daughters classes want to send letters. This works well into their social studies projects they are working on. They are planning on starting this Friday. Do you want me to mail them to the contact or should I send to you? I would like to get the preschool where I work to send letters too. Maybe not this project but maybe for the holidays. I know the Central Florida mom's are planning a holiday packing party. Please let me know where I can send the letters. Thanks, Laura
YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Molly - this one is just ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! I've been waiting for it!! We are going to send the sign we used at the pep rally in the America Supports YOU DVD (after all the students have signed it)!!!
Wow I wonder if they will hang it on the outside of their clinic ? can you imagine that ----
Perfect! Just so absolutely perfect, I'm going to start stocking up for mailing. What about some kid cards those mamas and dads can send home to their babies?
Great idea ----- maybe even Xmas cards for them to send home ?
Here we whine and pout because we cannot be with our adult children for the holidays - can you imagine being away from your own 13, 3 and 1 year old children to serve your country - and being in Kuwait on top of that!!!
Susan, what is the ratio of male/female? do we have any idea on how many they care for? how long they stay?
OH MOLLY !!!! This is such a fantastik idea!!!! We can send LOVE in two directions. I'm going to get started on the lists this weekend. Being in the healthcare profession myself, it touches my heart.
I have asked about the male/female ratio... will also ask how many wounded they care for in a week and/or month. This is a walk in clinic... no beds for overnight stays. This unit is scheduled to be there until March of next year.
OH so exciting! This is a great idea! Going to be fun to start thinking about what to send!
I have a case of toothbrushes to contribute!!
