Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

bethr311 and Wendy - ugh sorry to hear about the delays....

My son did actually start prototype today!  He's only had to wait 3 months which from what I hear isn't too bad. He said in a "perfect world" they would graduate the end of September but then he reminded me this isn't a perfect world and it will be "the Navy's way!".  Oh well, just glad he's finally starting!

Have a good day everyone!

He's, that may be the case. They are expected to report as usual, but training is delayed. My son said there was nothing definite only that there is no way for them to get certified right now.

Speaking with my son tonight, he said that due to equipment issues, their class could get extended to November or later? Has anyone else heard this? Thanks!

Thanks NancyJo - not sure what we will actually get to do since it's a quick trip but I at least want to have ideas!  Probably won't get any hiking in - my mom is coming along and she's not a hiker!  She'll be happy just hanging out with sailor (and getting her hugs!).

My son and his wife take visitors to Lake George. I saw photos of them in a ferry. The kiddos really liked it. There's also some great hiking. Sadly, that's about all I know of that area.

So we're heading to Ballston Spa for a few days at the end of next week to visit our sailor.  Anyone have any "must see/do" recommendations in the BS/Saratoga Springs area?  We probably are not going to make it into NYC - not enough time...however we are going to Cooperstown to the Baseball Hall of Fame! Any restaurant recommendations?

Happy Tuesday! Spoke with my son last night and he got another new start date for Proto.  Now it looks like it will be this Monday, 4/14.  His class did officially change too - from 1306MARF to 1401S8G.  He says he'll believe it when he sees it but it looks more certain this time since they passed out their text books.

NancyJo - San Diego would be awesome!  We live about an hour from there and love to drive down to visit and hang out.  Hubby and I used to go to a lot of Padres games there.  When our son was home at Christmas time we went to the NEX there - wow! It's huge!  San Diego is a great place ;-)

Eppidoo - I don't know much about Washington....I believe there is a site on here - I think it's "Washington & Oregon" or something like that - but if you check there they probably can give you some insight.  I know that Emily is married to a nuke and they live in Washington I believe.  She is very knowledgeable - maybe you can find her.  I think she is "Emily Aarons girl". Give that a try...also ask on the "Nuke moms" site too!

Happy Friday all - Hope you remembered to wear your Red Shirt today!

My son is due to graduate from prototype real soon although he does not have his orders yet we have been researching housing possibilities in Bangor WA and KingsBay GA - does anyone have any suggestions on where is the best place to begin looking? We would appreciate your help!
