OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

So, I have a question that hopefully one of you could help with. My daughter graduated last friday(9/6), and she has to wait till the end of this week before she leaves Great Lakes for Virginia to go to her A school. I know I can send her phone to her and tablet, but is there anything else I'm able to send her?

Bigfamilysimplejoy,

Since she is still at RTC I would not add anything extra for a couple reasons.  First, anything else you send her she has to pack into her seabag along with all those uniforms, boots, and other stuff she has with her. And she has to carry that on her own all the way to her next location.  Plus she is still at RTC and the RDCs could give her he$$ for any other "contraband". It would be better to wait until she gets to her A school to send her any other items.  Now not sure what you want to send her but keep in mind, they don't have a whole lot of storage in A school and they will not be able to wear civilian clothes until she phases up.  So get her her phone, tablet and chargers for now, but wait a bit to send other stuff.

Bigfamilysimplejoy My daughter also graduated last Friday 9/6 and is also still there waiting to go to A school in Virginia at the end of the week.

Okay! Awesome! I found out Monday night that she will be there in Great lakes till about Oct. What's going on with your sailor?

When I talked to my daughter the other day she said she will be there in Great Lakes until Saturday. But she didn’t have any other details and things do change so we’ll see. My daughter is a CS. What is your daughters’s rate? Maybe they’re going different places in Virginia?
