Anna, glad you made it safely to Ohio. It's nice to have company, even if it is kitty. Be sure to give Blondie a hug from all of us and, Blondie, give Anna a hug from us, too!

Johns Hopkins is in Baltimore, Maryland. You are right there is some kind of big eye clinic in Boston. They make some special contacts to be used when patients have BIG problems with dry eye and also graft vs. host disease of the eye caused by transplants. I know someone who wears them.

Joanna,
Johns Hopkins is in Baltimore. That's where I found out I was having twin girls!!!

Well I made it here to Ohio. Long trip - but I brought my kitty with me so it was nice to have someone else to talk to even if she never talked back. Well she meowed a few times so I took that as conversation. She apparently doesn't like my music tho'!!
Blondie,
I'm so looking forward to our lunch Thursday. I will get to meet you in person!!

Pat,
Many more hugs coming your way. Maybe as DC says it will take a little longer to get something to show up!! Prayers continuing to Jenn. And tell her I'm giving her a big Navy mom hug also. She has so many people hoping for her. We are here to listen to you anytime you need.

KR,
How are you doing? We're here for you also. Prayers and hugs for you and your family. Peace and comfort also.

Pat, I know from experience that the first tests may not reveal anything but some of those more sophisticated tests may yield results. My lymphoma took over a year, many tests and three biopsies before I got a diagnosis. Slides were even sent to a pathologist specializing in lymphoma at NIH for analysis there. Even the third biopsy, where we got results, didn't show anything on the initial results. When it transformed, it only took one biopsy but some of the more time consuming tests to get results.

I hope that Jenn does get results when all the tests are in. I pray that it is something that is very treatable so that she can get on with dealing with what's going on in a positive, productive way!!

While typing this, she may well want to have her slides sent somewhere, e.g., Johns Hopkins or some other teaching hospital that has a speciality in dealing with eyes.

I know that if one suspects sarcoma, opinions should be obtained from this specialist at Emory University in Atlanta and, I think, at an Air Force lab. I bet there are some specialists like that for eye problems.

Pat, I wish I knew what to suggest. Add me to the list sitting by helplessly. Many hugs to you both.

KR, You and your family are in my prayers. Losing loved one is always hard but even harder when it is a shock like this. He was so young to die of a heart attack. Consider yourself hugged. Wish I could do more.

Cfrogsing, I have read that once people are seated, extras can take what is left. They must be prepared at the gate to allow others on base. They will probably give you a map with instruction of where to go and what is off limits. The Marine graduations are outside so there is no size limit. It was crowded but we all managed. I liked that.

Pat, take it one thing at a time and before you know it you will be done.

KR,
I am so sorry for your family's loss. I will keep your dear husband and your family in my prayers.

Cfrogsing,
The problem is - you can probably have more people attend PIR because it is just stadium type seating in a large drill hall. I know on other groups I have heard about families having extra people and they just had to wait until other families got seating in front of where their recruit's division will be standing. What I don't know is how extra people get in to RTC. A recruit is allowed to put 4 people on the list that is handled at the main gate. If your name is not on the list I guess you don't even get on the base. Maybe you could ask your sailor's dad if the two of you can split the "guests" two and two instead of only leaving you one. I just checked the RTC website and it even says not to ask for more than the allotted 4 guests. Sorry I don't have any other answer for you!!

Oh, KR I am so sorry. I know it has been so hard for your husband to see you struggling and now to have his brother suddenly pass. I will hold you and your family up in my prayer, especially your daughter. I also pray she has some friends close by that will be of comfort.

Pat, remember the best gifts of all are the gifts of the heart. Your trip to SD is definitely that. It is not only a gift to Jenn but a gift to yourself.
