hellraiser, I understand what your going through. My daughter is not one to admit to showing emotions but in her letter she said they had sweet potatoes and it reminded her of hoem and she teared up. Sure made me cry.

Good Morning Jean!

And a Good Morning to everyone else too!!!

julyasmom and proudtrojanmommy,

No matter how much time we have to prepare when that day comes it will hit us like a brick!!!!  I understand how you feel and let me just say - you are entitled to all your crazy emotions you are and will go through.  Don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise.  Yes, we are so doggone proud of our girls and we are happy they get to follow their dreams.  Doesn't mean we have to like the separation!!!  I hope the time does go quickly, especially the first 3 or 4 weeks until you can get a letter or phone call from them!!!  Always feel free to come here to chat and share.

Tammy66,

So happy to "see" you here!!  Congrats on one week down.  So glad you got your letter so soon, some have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for that blasted form letter.  When my daughter was in bootcamp I never got my form letter.  It got lost somewhere and my daughter couldn't send another one.  So I just had to get all my info from her by letter!!!!  Pretty soon you'll be making those plans for her graduation!!!

Good luck to all you just starting this amazing journey!!!

Hi all!  Wanted to introduce myself, since I just joined the group yesterday.  My daughter left for boot camp on 7/9, so we have a week in!  We got the form letter yesterday, and her PIR is 9/4, and I am one excited mama!!  Amazing how even that letter with their handwriting brings excitement, or maybe it was just finding out when we have a chance to see her again!!  I have found that for me the best way to deal is just keeping busy!  I have started to work- out again to help deal with all the crazy emotions that come in a day!

I haven't posted here before. My daughter ships out on Wednesday. Didn't think it'd be this hard. Time went to fast. Had a year to prepare and feel completely unprepared.

Hi Ladies! Sorry to have been away for a bit. Well the going away party is done. How did the time go so fast!?! Tuesday she heads up to MEPS... We and her boyfriend will go and have dinner with her. Then of course Wednesday off she goes. What a crazy last few months!!

Here's hoping the next 9 weeks go as fast as the last 9!!
