Happy Saturday everyone!!! I'm really hoping I don't get called in today. I've got to confess tho' - I like working with the owner of this store. She cracks me up and so far she's been buying us lunch everytime I've been there!! Although she did warn us that the last week leading up to Halloween we probably won't have any time to stop for lunch or dinner!! But the funniest thing ever is the "drinks" she provides every day!! One day she made the annoucement that she was providing an H1N1 vaccine for us. Wasn't too sure what she was talking about until she brought out these large glasses of ice for everyone and proceeds to make us all fuzzy navels!!! Said it had vitamin C and of course alcohol kills all germs!!! Had those a couple days and then the next day it was something called blue motorcycles and yesterday was LI ice tea!! And I don't ever drink during the day and never that much hard liquor. And I've never had a job where you drink ON THE JOB!!! I'm loving this place!!! She says it helps take the edge off the pain in her feet also, and true it does help, but . . . . . . . . . I just laugh when I get home and check up on all the comments on here and read up about all the drinks mentioned!! Do you ever wonder - if the enemy was reading this site - would they think we are all a bunch of alkies????!!!!!!! :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Waiting for my football game to begin!!

Well I'm glad to see everyone is doing fine. Sitting at home now with ice on my sore ankle. I'm hoping I don't have to work tomorrow because the fair is going on also and I'm hoping it's slow enough that they won't need me at the store. It's a fun place to be which is nice, but I just can't do this 8 straight hours on my feet.

I had to chuckle at all the comments last night about chocolate cake and milk. I had a couple of those mix em up and microwave single serving double chocolate cakes which hubby made up after dinner tonight and put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Uuuummmmmmmm!!! Hit the spot!!

NHArmyNavyMom,
Congrats on the new duty station for your sailor. I love VA. Never lived there tho' but visited many, many times.

JJ,
Sorry about the sad news in your family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

DC,
How happy for you to be having a bad hair day!! Not too many times one woman can happily say that to another woman!!!

Pat,
Glad to hear Jenn is trying to slow down her work pace a little bit. Have they set an appointment for the next spinal or are they still debating what to do next??

Blondie,
I know it's getting close for your daughter's big day!! I'm excited for you!!! I pray you have good weather. My daughter who lives near Akron has told me how cold it's been there lately!! What part of the state are you in?

Where's Joanne?? I haven't seen anything from her today!!

Marianne, I wish L all the best in her car shopping adventure. It's scary.

Linda, You have the nerve. It will be a blast! I would probably choose Brussels, Milan, Rome in that order. If you are just changing plains, it should make no difference. You may well fly over us. In the evenings, we see the planes heading east, then the following day starting around noon we see planes flying west and southwest as they return to the US. Wave as you go over Maine.

JJKeley, I will sent thoughts of healing peace to your daughter. Oh, how tough it is to lose a loved one and even more so if you are away from family. I wish her well on her test. I also send hugs to you. Losing a parent is very hard, even if you know it is coming.

Blondie, never ever let "fear" keep you from doing what you truly want to do. Get an iPod with good headsets and a good book and enjoy the 22 hours that will take you to see XXX!

NavyMom, Tell Sailor #2 congratulations on a job well done. Tenacity is part of the game.

Sleggett, PIR will be here before you know it. V. had her PIR in May and alas I had to miss it. I understand it is very emotional. Enjoy every second of it. The next best thing is the "I'm a Sailor" call. That will come right after Battle Stations.

Guess what!! I got up this morning and decided I had a "bad hair day." Woo Hoo! There were little pieces of hair sticking out here and there. Now all it took was rubbing my hand over my scalp and my bad hair day vanished. My husband said that at least I had a hair day. It is actually beginning to come over my ears a little. Oh, yes, another thing. You know how men lose hair above their temples? Well, that area has been the last to begin to fill in. Most of my hair is 1/4-1/3 inch long but there it is probably only 1/16 inch long. In addition it appears to be darker than the rest. So I have "platinum" hair everywhere except above my temples where it is darker. Makes me look like I have horns. My husband says not my true nature is coming out. He also comments that it will look quite silly if it stays that way ... white with two streaks.

We had a doe and fawn in the edge of the woods this morning. They were picture perfect. Lots of birds but the turkeys have not yet been by for a visit nor has the fox.

Tonight we are going to the French restaurant again with friends. It will be the last time for the season. It closes Saturday night and won't reopen until around June. Sometimes it opens for Mother's Day only. Then on Sunday we are going for brunch with some other friends. This is at a very nice inn that is situated on a hill overlooking a lake. The trees still have lots of color so it should be pleasant. The food it good and it is not really unreasonable. We won't talk about the French restaurant.

Thanks Joanne, I was wondering about that situation though I have some other thoughts about it. It's hard to understand how he could be at home when the authorities combed the house multiple times?!!

Cooper, I think it wonderful that you're a blue star mom and I like to let folks know about our troops (and babies)

Oh, National news just announced that the boy was hiding in the attic!

Pat thanks for asking about my girl. No problems, they just keep asking for more answers to questions. We put our daughter on our gas credit card and they wanted to know why and if she could be taken off. Strange but at 22 she needed the credit history. She said there were no problems. sounded great.
