Mia,

That is wonderful news!!!!  So happy she's feeling more confident now!!!  When will she start her A school??

Comment by Mia on May 4, 2018 at 5:34pm

My sailor is out of THU!!! She ran into some EO's that just graduated A school today, asked a TON of questions and feels a lot more prepared for school starting.

If she was in pediatric oncology, we may have met! We have been in/out every month for 4 years. We are now every 6 months. I will be there end of June.

Mia, my sister in law has worked at that hospital in the oncology unit and icu for almost 30 years. My great niece is now there and will be a resident for at least the next month as she has some form of leukemia and lymphoma. They do great things there. If you find yourself in town again let me know, I'd love to meet you.

I was just scrolling through when my son stopped me. "My hospital!!" Yes, that big balloon is Norton Children's! We are not from there, but we have lived in that hospital too many times...usually over Derby weekend or the fireworks for our summer trip. This year we were bumped out. Thanks for sharing!!

Two weeks in THU...still no orders. (big sigh)

Most of you probably know about the Kentucky Derby - the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.  For those of us who live in the area, the race itself is just the culmination of two weeks of Derby festivities.  There are activities daily starting with the nations largest fire works display (truly amazing) last Saturday.  Today was the Great Balloon Race.  The breezes brought the balloons to our way and our office was treated to lots of beautiful balloons landing all around us early this morning.  I just wanted to share with you that it might bring you some of the joy it brought to us.  Also, there's a horse running this year named Lone Sailor.  Guess who my money is going on.. :).  He's had some great times in his warm ups.

CherylandBill the first few days seem to be the hardest sometimes.  The Navy is an adventure for the sailor and the family and you never know what will happen.  I'm sure your daughter will be put in the place where she will best succeed.  Sometimes we all need a little help!  What will she be doing after boot camp?
