Feeling a little emotional my daughter got deployed on Wednesday don’t know where she’s going I know she’ll be gone for seven months. And she’s already emailed me wanting a care package. Does anyone know how I go about sending that care package does the post office have special boxes?

Anna, good point!

Holly to be specific, my daughter is a Nuke and even though they are not allowed cameras in the building we were allowed to have them for graduation.

Congratulations dkuulei29!!  Safe travels to PIR and I hope you thoroughly enjoy it!!  Take lots of tissues, and be sure to tell us all about it afterwards!!  I sent you a personal welcome on your profile page!!  Happy to see you here!!

Holly,

It depends on the base and what rating your daughter is in as far as whether pictures are allowed.  Blondie mentioned that she wasn't allowed pictures because her daughter was in Intel.  My son is in Intel also and we were only allowed pictures in certain areas.  Other graduations may not be as restricted.  Your daughter would be the best source of information as far as her graduation goes.  All members of your party will need picture IDs except for young children.  And make sure you have the lease agreement for the rental car with you since you won't have registration in your name.  It should also show proof of insurance or else make sure you have vehicle insurance proof that would cover the rental.  Base personnel may want to see that!!!  Like I said, depends on the base, the level of security they have, etc....  A school graduations aren't as big as PIR is but it is still a very special time for your sailor.  Enjoy!!!!

Holly my daughter graduated A school about 2 years ago and we were encouraged to take pictures.  Congratulations!

Holly, Congrats!  Is she going on to C-school or out into the fleet?

It's been over 10 years for me and my daughter was in Intel. We did not go to A-school graduation, only C-school. But we were NOT allowed  to take pictures, they checked our purses, phones and cameras as we entered.  We had to wait there to get escorted to the room.  We couldn't even go to the bathroom without an escort!  All personal entering removed their ID's (just in case?) so we had no idea who was who till after the ceremony.  With all the computers and such I don't know but our daughter took care of everything.  Just make sure Everyone has an photo ID.

Hi everyone!

My daughter's "A" school graduation is next week.☺ Was told ceremony is a lot smaller than PIR. Do you know if we're able to take pictures during the ceremony or if pictures would be available to purchase after the ceremony?

What IDs and other personal information will we need to go on base? My daughter will be our sponsor. Is the form(s) available online to print? We'll be traveling about 13 hours in a rental car and want to be prepared with all the info/ IDs, etc. we need.

I'd appreciate any information you can provide or phone number/contact to point me in the right direction. Thank you!

Holly
