Oh Blondie - that sounds absolutely YUCKY!!!! Haven't talked to Jenn yet will call her later tonight. Are you still at work?? How much longer will you be there?
Comment by Anna on January 6, 2010 at 3:31pm
Blondie,
I wish she could but the area she is going to we are all so unfamiliar with. At least she will be on the OH turnpike for most of her drive so I'm hoping those roads will be well cleared. I told her that if it is too bad not to take chances and reschedule the test - but I know she wants to get it done now so she can be considered with the next review board!! I'll have to ask her about the time of her test and advise her to leave with plenty of extra driving time. Even if she gets there really early and has to wait in a coffee shop!!!!

Thank you for the prayers Ladies!! One more small request - OH is expecting more snow for tomorrow and she will be driving further north towards Cleveland for this test. I'm worried about the drive for her. So can I requests prayers for good road conditions and good scores on her test??? You ladies are the best!!!!

Blondie,
Any word from Pat lately? I hope she is coming back here soon!!! Hope all is well with her and Jenn.

Thanks Dmarie!!! How's everything with you?

And thank you Jackee8!! Let me know if I can help you in anyway as you begin your journey into the life of a Navy Mom!!!!!

Good Afternoon all!!! It's cold here in NC. They say this cold snap is going all the way to FL.
Blondie,
Jenn said she got a bunch of snow in her part of the state. Luckily she doesn't go back to college until next week. Isn't that when spring starts?!?!?!?

Raineegal,
So glad to hear from you again. Hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly. So how do you feel about Shai moving to MD? Is she recovering herself ok?

Hope Pat will be back soon also so we can hear all about her trip to SD and her visit with Jenn.

Ladies, do you remember back before Christmas when I mentioned that my Jenn was putting in her application for the Naval Officer program? She was going to be taking the aviation test which she has to pass before they will consider her application. She did not take the test the day we went up to visit the recruiting office, but she is scheduled to take it this Thursday. It's a 2 and 1/2 hour test!! She's been studying for it over the last two weeks and feels somewhat confident but could sure use some prayers that she does well on it. I will keep you all posted on her progress. Thank you!!!

NavyMom, I agree with you that consistent cold weather is preferable to the freezing rain/ice or freeze/thaw. I much preferred a winter in Nebraska to a winter in Kansas just for that reason. I love living on the coast but would prefer a winter in Caribou. I have snowshoes but frequently the snow has thawed too much to use them.

Sorry I got on so late tonight and missed everyone. Today was a day catching up and unpacking from being gone for two weeks.
Welcome Aboard Jackee8. I also have twin girls both almost 20. The oldest decided to attend college and the youngest went into the Navy right out of high school. They missed each other quite a bit at first, especially the college one. The Navy girl was kept pretty busy and didn't have alot of time to think about family. But they keep in touch by facebook, cellphones, and text messages, so it is ok. They want to be able to spend their 21st birthday together somewhere so we'll have to wait and see!!!!
Glad to hear everyone else is doing ok - many of us are dealing with freezing temps but I think NavyMom has us all beat!!!
Will try to get on earlier tomorrow - good night all!!!

I worked on pillowcases this afternoon... had real problems with one. I was determined not to let it beat me but DH said it had me black and blue! I thought I had two ready to go to Kasey and her roommate. Could only find one of them and have no clue where the other one is. GRR. Tomorrow is a better day.

We had no snow today but it warmed up. While that is good news, it can make life difficult if it freezes again.

Blondie, we are hinding from you.

Welcome, Jackee, There is a mom who has twin daughters on N4M. One is a sailor and the other in college. I can't remember who it is nor can I remember if she is on this group or the other Moms of Daughters. Check there as well.

We don't have the cold that some of you have, especially not what NavyMom has. It is better for us if it stays below freezing. Otherwise the snow melts some and we get a very icy lane. We have a short but steep hill out of our house. When it is icy, we are in trouble. Last year we had to break down and get the lane sanded.

Have a great day, everyone.

Wade142,
I have to agree with you there!!!
Holiday travels are over and I'm back to my temporary home in NC. It's cold here also but not as bad as it was in MD and DC. With the wind this morning it was -5 while we were trying to get packed up!!! The car was frozen!!!
I'm ready for spring!!!!
Comment by Anna on January 2, 2010 at 11:51pm
Wow NavyMom - you have some COLD that's for sure!
Wade, I lived in Augusta Ga for 12 years. I remember a few snow events and the whole area has to shut down. Originally from Ohio and I moved back up there about 6 years ago - right in the snow belt - what was I thinking?!?!?!?
In Maryland right now visiting with older son - spent the day in DC but it is really cold here and windy like all get out!! We got to tour the Navy museum and the Navy Memorial. I got some pics I'll try to post later.
Trying to warm up now!!!
