Pat,
We will listen to you as much as you need. I will certainly keep her in my prayers for a good captain's mast and review board.

Joanne,
PNA - Passed Not Advanced

Thanks, Pat, I hope that her biopsy reveals treatable answers! This is such a difficult time for both of you. I know that when one loves her job and does it well, it is hard to have the props knocked out from under you. Keep looking for the silver lining. It's hiding in there somewhere but sometimes so hard to see.

Pat,
I'm sorry - I remember now reading your earlier post about her PNA and that her rate is overmanned. That's the same problem Catherine has. What is Jenn's rate?

Pat, what are they biopsying? Does she have some sort of tumor?
Comment by Anna on December 2, 2009 at 9:07pm
No Pat,
It will still matter if she made it!!! Did she take the test and do you know if she made it, or was she planning on going up for advancement but didn't because of all the medical stuff? I just hate that she is possibly being stamped un-deployable if they don't even know what she has and can it be treated!!! Once they put that kind of label on a sailor it is like moving heaven and earth to remove it!!! Like you said, she was fine before. You know being around helos all the time - accidental fuel spray, hydraulic splatter - - who knows??!!!!

Well my son advanced but my daughter did not. Haven't talked to her yet to see how she did on the exam, but according to the Navy Times only 20 PSSNs made it to PS3. D**n overmanned rate!!!!

Pat,
Understand that I am saying this coming from the position that I was in the Navy myself years ago. I didn't always have a whole lot of faith in Navy doctors but there are many really good ones. I worry about the Navy just making the decision that Jenn is non-deployable and therefore just going to shuffle her off somewhere else without the medical people knowing what is wrong with her. How do the KNOW she is not deployable if they don't KNOW what her medical problem is. Maybe someone needs to press the medical people to work a little harder to find answers instead of just throwing up their hands and poor Jenn's career has to suffer for it. Could she have been exposed to something and just didn't think it was significant? If I were Jenn I'd also be pushing towards disability if they are going to end her current career path instead of just accepting their "well, we don't know - but here are your walking papers" They may just want to take the easy way out if you understand what I'm saying.

JM, Stalking is fine. It's just good to know that you are around.

Having spent many years advising college students, I feel that sometimes it is good for a student to take a break and "dig ditches." Seriously, if a student has no clue and hates college, it is time to take a break. If the student lovest digging ditches, that's fine but usually after a while they are ready to return to education. It's amazing how well they do and quickly they complete their degrees. Having your son talk to your daughter is a great dea. Hugs. I know this is a difficult time for you.

Joanne, sometimes walking away is good. Take a break if you are angry, calm down before you return.

Take care, all

Everyone has been busy today!!
Pat,
I continue to pray for answers and healing for Jenn. She should play her - hey I'm up for reenlistment are you guys going to resolve this NOW??!!!! Please don't ever feel like you can't ALWAYS talk here and unload to us. I never see it as whinning - I see it as motherly concern, caring, and of course - the frustration!!!!

DC,
Sorry V got hurt. Will say a prayer for her also for quick and complete healing and recovery. Tell her not to push her healing tho'!!

JM,
Glad to hear from you again. I agree with Blondie - have your daughter talk to your son. If the siblings even listen to each other!!! I know how that can be sometimes! Military life isn't for everyone but sometimes it can be the best for someone. Hugs go to you for peace and comfort while he looks into this decision.

Blondie,
Congrats to your daughter!!! Is she a second class now or first? My son just made IS2!!

Joanne,
Sorry your daughter is making you crazy!! They still have the ability to do that sometimes - no matter how near or far they are. You can whine, vent, get it all out here!! We are here to listen and help any way we can. If only to listen and be understanding.
