Dad was Air Force too. Yes, she is at A school and is spending Thanksgiving with a local family that adopts sailors who are away from home for the holidays. Sent them flowers as a thank you. I even sent a box of things to their address so that she would have some things from home, including her cell phone.

Hi Ladies, I have been here but just as a stalker for the past several days. Having mixed feelings now that my girl is out of BC and at her A school. Even found out that after coming home from his sisters PIR, our 18 year old is seriously considering the Air Force. So, while I haven't been vocal, I have been reading, praying and doing my share of sticking those pins into very painful places. Blondie, my heart breaks for you and your precious community, Pat, don't give up hope that answers are out there. Joanne and the rest of you wonderful ladies. Hope your Thanksgiving is blessed.

Two of our Moms are hurting this Thanksgiving - Blondie and Pat. I am sorry and am sending extra hugs your way. Wish I could do more.
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.
I know I have so much to be thankful and I really try to stay focused on that. But I am really missing the holidays when all the kids were around and the house was noisy, busy, and full of laughter!!!
God Bless all my Navy friends and our sailors!!!

Pat, Many years ago my sister-in-law lost her central vision in one eye when she was pregnant with her first son. The doctors swore there was no relationship between the two events. Then when she was pregnant with her second the central vision in her other eye began to go. Needless to say she was quite frightened. She went to the eye clinic at Johns Hopkins and the specialist there said that the two were definitely related. He also saved her sight.

Also, I had a colleague who developed some kind of eye problem and was in danger of losing the sight in his eye. He went to a clinic in Miami. They were able to save his sight. He told me that Johns Hopkins and this clinic rival each other for being the top eye clinic in the country.

If at all possible, get Jenn to one of these two clinics! It sounds like she needs something else. In the meantime, I'm making a voodoo doll of that JA of a doctor. I won't tell you where I'm sticking the pins!

Pat,
I am so sorry. I can't believe that the SD doctor did not take the time to explain what was happening, why he came to the conclusions he did, and what kind of expectations she could have for her future. Since he is a civilian doctor do you think Jenn would let you call him and have a phone consultation with him. I know sometimes our young adults just don't have the experience of demanding answers like older and more experienced adults would. I think they feel intimidated still of pressing an adult for answers. It's hard because our children are learning to take care of their own matters but as a mom we know that we can ask for and expect to get answers, and will keep pushing until we have the knowledge we need. We just don't want to step on the toes of our young adult!!!!

Good night Blondie! Take care!

In some instances friends can be closer to us than family.

Blondie,
Do take care of yourself also. I think you are one that is always there to help others and that is admirable of you. I know you are also a very strong woman. But do take care of yourself. And yes, you have to mourn your loss also. Several years ago our school lost a very special young lady. She was my babysitter - she had twin sisters several years older than my girls so she was very comfortable babysitting twins. She was just one of those very, very special young ladies. She also died in a senseless auto accident. My oldest son also had a strong crush on her but never got up the nerve to ask her out. I tried to be strong for him and for her family but it really hit me hard also. We don't have to be related to the person to deeply feel the loss.

Blondie,
I am so sorry. I know words at this time really can't help. I will certainly keep you, the families, and all the loved ones left behind to cope in my prayers. They are singing and dancing together in God's home now and are no longer hurting. It's the ones left behind that are hurting. Sending you hugs your way.
So sorry!!!
