Pat, graduation is at the Marine Corps Recruit Depo in San diego. That is right next to the airport.

Navy101, I think most grads from GL have to stay local. A few do get to spend the night off base but most do not.

Dancing Sailor, what a bummer to get sick! I'm glad you feel better now.

KR, it would be great fun to have you meet up as well.

Proudmom, I am so sorry about Kaylee! Like everyone else, how can we help?

Proud mom is there some address we can write to her? I am sure plenty of moms would be willing to give her support.

I was thinking about putting the recipie for brandy slush in a discussion above. That way if you want to get it you can get it there. It is a nice party recipie, of course, as long as everyone drinks responsibly!!! :)
Joanne,
Does your job require you to be on your feet all night also? I have such a totally new respect for people who have jobs like that. The pain is unreal!!!!

Good Evening Ladies,
Well, I survived halloween!! This past week was 10 - 10 1/2 hours a day!!! Last night I finally got home around 9 and my ankle hurt so much it kept me awake most of the night. I managed to get to church this morning but have basically stayed off my feet the rest of the day. Hubby had to do the grocery shopping for me!! I go back on Monday to help clean all the rental costumes and get them back out for schools, churches, and other organizations that still rent costumes for special events. I even helped "create" a Michael Jackson costume for a local sport team's mascot. That was interesting!!! It had to be extra, extra large size for the mascot costume!!! Now I get to look forward to going to OH to visit one daughter next weekend, and then turn around and head to WA to visit the sailor daughter. I am ready for a vacation now that I've earned some spending cash!!!
Glad to hear everyone is doing ok. Pat, I'm really glad that the Navy doctors have finally cried Uncle and are sending Jenn to see some other experts. Praying this will finally get some results!!
JM, I love Puffy's tails!!! What a precious idea you have!!
DC, enjoy your visit with family!!!
Catherine W, good to hear from you again!!
Everyone else have a wonderful week and I'll be able to talk to you all a little more often now!!
Hugs to all of you!!!

When I first started doing this Joanne, I wasn't sure if it wasn't just silly. But I have been pleasantly surprised at the fun comments I have gotten back about him. Some wanted a backgroup on Puffy too. It really has been fun. I have 5 more to post before her PIR.

And what makes you think Puffy is of drinking age? You never know, he might not even be let into PIR or on the airplane. Still working on that. Oh and I have decided to make Puffy into a book to give to my girl for either Christmas or her birthday in the spring. I think she will like it. She told me she had been sharing Puffy's adventures with her division mates.

I think Puffy should come to the Coyote Cafe. Good place to look for his Girl ... among loved ones of boot camp graduates.

Pat, Bryce's father lives in Michigan. He has an emergency animal clinic in Grand Rapids. Yes, we did go there in August to attend Bryce's send off to boot camp. But the Marines shipped him early so there was no Bryce there. Our younger son lives in the Palm Springs area and he is a golf course superintendent. We see little of him. :-( That's why when a couple of his daughters were in Boston we went down for the weekend to see them. We had a grand time.

Bryce's dad attended V.'s PIR. Her dad couldn't get away and I was in chemo so I couldn't go. He refereed a soccer game, then drove from Michigan to GL that night so that V. would have a family member attending. The spent the day of PIR together and then he drove back to Michigan to coach a soccer team. Bryce graduated on Sunday after PIR. He is very involved with family.

When I was getting ready for sabbatical in Ireland, I had suitcases from one end of the living room to the other. Piles of clothes ... definitely take, maybe take, and sure would like to take. All of a sudden I heard a voice behind me say, "What are you doing, Mom?" Talk about be surprised. He had flown down for the weekend to see me off. He also came to visit us while we were there.

I forgot, my youngest brother is going to be on the West Coast for business. He is going to try to schedule it so he can join up for the graduation.

Bryce does have a large support group. We wrote one of his rack mates who was getting to mail. I included a stamped, self-addressed envelope along with a questionnaire for him to send back. He didn't respond so I assumed he wasn't interested. Bryce's parents also wrote and heard nothing. So I guess some don't want contact.
