Welcome, Fiorene. The first few weeks are the toughest, both for the recruit and for the mom. You will always miss her but it gets easier to deal with. Keep posting here. You will find encouragement and support.

Ok Lisa spill, tell the truth!!! you contributed to the same conversation. You are definately going to give these nice ladies the wrong impression. Love ya babe, talk to you tomorrow. P.S. I was just getting in to the Halloween spirit. Severed fingers and all. :0 )

Well, both Joanne and Pat are going to be sad to wake up to the fact that the Angels beat the socks off the Red Sox 5 - 0. Wonderful game!!!

Earlier I couldn't keep my eyes open so I went to bed ... then I woke up. I did this the other night and didn't get to sleep until 5:00 a.m. This is not fun!

Rainegal, Enjoy seeing Shai. I hope that the doctors soon get her on medications that make her life pleasant! If she is going to have to have IV drugs and her veins are not good, have her ask about getting a port-a-cath. My veins are miserable and he best thing about chemo was the port! It's going to take a lot to get me to give it up.

KR, I hope to be on a whirlwind trip to SD next month. Our oldest grandson is scheduled to graduate from boot camp. So far he is on schedule. The biggest concern is injuries.

I started to watch CSI but kept falling asleep. Wonder if I taped it? I could watch it now.

Good evening, everyone.

Joanne, I'm sort of Sox fan but really I don't follow baseball at all.

Worked out in the pool this morning. It is a class that is for people who have arthritis. it focuses on stretching and flexibility. Good because I can do lots that I could not do otherwise.

Take care!

Joanne ask yourselve - If you were God, Would you choose to support the Angels or those heathen Red Sox?

Good Morning! It is such a beautiful day out. Yesterday was rainy but today the sun s shining. The fox tried to get the turkeys but wasn't successful. I know he has to eat but I would not want to see him catch one.

Marianne, Nevada is a long ways inland. It is a dry interesting state.

Debby, this site drove me nuts until I indicated that I did not want to get notifications when people posted on the list. On this group, we are sometimes chatty. That means many many e-mails. You do have to remember to go back several pages or you get left out!

Pat, V. liked GL but then she was out of there before the cold weather arrived. If she thought Maine was cold, she would have been shocked at GL in the winter! I remember beng in Chicago at Christmas time ... brr!

Sounds like last night was like the night I had a couple nights ago, Pat. I hate to sleep a while and then wake up. You have just enough sleep to destroy the rest of the night but not enough to run efficiently the next day.

NH-Mom, Is the relationship with the BF serious? V. is beginning to think her new relationship is.

Susan, It is hard to give advice long distance. I can imagine that M is discouraged. She probably uncomfortable as well. Putting you in isolation is her way of "punishing" you for being honest. But she does need the honest input. Life is not a bed of roses, as we all know. We have to figure out how to work our way through difficulties. I would suggest to her that she talk to the doctors about her feelings. If she is suffering from depression, that needs to be dealt with. If she just wants to quit because the oing is tough right now, I would discourage it. She can't go through life doing that. Giving tough love is hard. I know, I have had to do it as well.

Better get going. I have to go to the Y for my water exercises. I'm going to be late if I don't get going! Have a wonderful day! I'll be back this evening.

Pat - The Sox didn't lose. They didn't win either. They start their series against the Angels tonight. Have a good day ladies.

Marianne, I'm wearing sweatshirts now. :-) The trees are turning and the air brisk. I love this weather!! Oh, isn't L. in Oceana? My g'daughter put that on her dream sheet. Who knows!

Pat, I'm hoping that V. will be able to visit sometime over the holidays. Someone told her that some get Xmas and others New Year's. She is going to sign up for New Year;s so hopefully she and her BF can get the same time.

Cindy22, borrowing leave is not unusual. She will make it up soon enough and it is certainly better than sitting all alone, well virtually alone, at GL!

Welcome, Sherry. Don't we all want to have our daughters (or granddaughters) close. Having spent many years advising students in college, I think she is wise to join the Navy if she is not certain about her direction. Many students need to grow up and find out who they are. She can earn college credit while she is in the Navy.

KR, I've been thinking of M. Is she healing now?

Catherine, Many hugs. It is so hard to have to endure silence. Will she have access to the Internet? That may help. I chat with my niece in London and it is just like she is in the room. We both have webcams.

JM, I'm sorry your daughter is having trouble sleeping. That does so affect one's attitude. You can hear it in their voices when they are upset and it breaks your heart. I have heard that with V. Then I sit and stew. I'm not aware of when she feels better.

Shucks, now that I'm on, everyone else has gone to bed. :-(

Pat, I did sew all day. I just finished dishes and now am trying to catch up on everything. I need to go back to see what I missed.

I am also coordinating the Crucible Prayer Chain for the recruits in my grandson's company. They will be doing the Crucible in four weeks! That seemed so far away when he started but it will be here before we know it!! Ooh-Rah! Okay, so this is a Navy site and we're here to support our daughters. I just couldn't help slipping it in.

Be back in a a little while.
