JayDee,
That is a funny story about your dogs and their bedtime routine!!! My white kitty curls up with me when I go to bed and she'll lick my face. Hubby says she's tasting me to see if I'm ripe yet!!!! So sorry to hear about your daughter's boyfriend and the separation. How long will he be out of town? Hope it's not too long! Will be keeping her (and him) in my prayers!
Roliesmom,
So happy your girl is going to be coming home soon and you will get to meet the guy!!! Be sure to let us know what you think!!! Not that it matters, but we're just curious like that!!! But enjoy every minute of her visit!! Unfortunately, the time goes too quickly for us!!!!
As for our travels, everything has stopped for now. We had a wheel bearing overheat and had smoke pouring out from the tires on the highway. A passing motorist was honking their horn when hubby looked in the mirror. Thank God, we were 1 mile from the next exit and at that exit was an RV repair center, 1 1/2 mile from the highway!!! Just as we pulled into their driveway, the back left wheel fell off!!! The wheel bearing completely froze up and the nut got welded to the axle. They had to force it off and we have to get a new axle!!! Thank God there was a campground less than 1 mile from the RV place and they had a space for us. So the repair guys were able to put a new drum on, new bearings, and welded the nut back on so we could limp to the campground where we will sit and wait until the new axle comes in - - - - about 3 weeks!!!! We are bummed but realize it could be a lot worse. Folks were telling us stories of other people who lost wheels while on the freeway and in one case it hit another vehicle causing major damage to them. We've already contacted our insurance people and filed a claim so we'll see how much they cover. For now we are in a little town in VA about 25 miles from Wytheville!!!
Anna, as you know much of the time it's just me and the dogs at home. I tell them every night that if I die in my sleep and nobody comes to find them, it's okay to eat me to survive, but please make sure I'm really dead and not just sleeping. Of course they completely understand....
Bambi is going to be really confused. She is going to the vet to get spayed today and won't be home until tomorrow. If that's not traumatic enough, the lady who was fostering her will be doing the vet transport. Poor Bambi. I'll be glad when she's home for good with us!
Sounds like you've had quite a week. I'm glad your friend was able to get approval from Duke. Its amazing what medicine can do these days.
Finally taking a few minutes to catch up!! The past couple days have been a whirlwind!! We have been visiting many of hubby's relatives and friends that we haven't seen in decades so there's been lots of "catching up"!!!
bbcregular,
I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to meet up with you in Boone!!! It took us much longer to get there than we planned for and had some problems getting set up in our camp. Took all of our first day. Second day we drove down to Blowing Rock to meet up with a Navy Mom friend of mine who is really having some health problems. She just got approval from Duke University hospital to be on their heart transplant list. We ended up spending all of that day with her, her friend (who had to travel with her just in case) and two kids. The next day we had to start packing up to get ready to head to Advance and visit with hubby's sister. I can't even remember what day of the week it is!!!! I sure hope we get another chance, it is beautiful country there, but oh those hills pulling a big trailer!!!!
JayDee,
Was happy to read you were going to look at dogs, and then that you found a sweet, new puppy!!! Cute pic, sounds like puppy is fitting right in. Sorry to hear daughter is stressing over wedding plans, but I think it goes with the territory!!! But glad that you were able to talk things over!!!
spyder,
Wow!!! Temps in the 100s!!! And no winnings!! That's just not fair!!
Oleander,
Love the picture of your daughter and her dog kissing. I kiss my kitty all the time and she licks my face!! Drives hubby nuts and he says she's really tasting me in case she gets hungry in the middle of the night!!!! I'm so glad you're having a fun week with your girl!!
cjbmom,
So happy to see your post even if it is just once in awhile - it's always great to hear from you. I understand Bahrain can be pretty hot!!! I hope her working at nights is a little more temperate for her!! What a treat to look forward to her visit in August.
Hope everyone has a fun week. We are here one more day and then head up to the mountains of VA!!! These stops are going by so much quicker than last years trips. Or maybe it just seems that way!!!
Come on down. And I was just being silly about another group - Mom's of "Dog"ters.....
New group - Moms of Dogs & Sailors....
