Oleander,

I will keep you posted on when we expect to get to SD!!!  And yes, thank you for being a source of valuable information for our new moms!!!

Steph's Mom,

So happy you heard from your girl.  What wonderful news.  Also glad to hear she's not upset about her grandpa not attending.  Seems like she wasn't surprised.  Sad tho.  Hope you get that phone call!!!!

JayDee,

Thanks for that pick me up pic.  I have a ring tone on my phone that is from Stewie saying Mom, Mom, Mom, Mommy, . . . .   That is my ring tone for both my daughters.  It cracks me up every time they call me!!!!  When my sailor son calls me my phone plays Anchors Aweigh!!!

mysailormeg,

WOW, two weeks!!!  I get all happy just thinking about it!!!  You have to come back and share what your experience was like!!

MissNavyMom,

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed before she left for BC.  I figured it would give me one last chance to be her nurse and take care of her before she was gone!!!  Plus they can recuperate in their own home instead of while in all that chaos!!!!  And my husband didn't write letters but he did write little notes which I would include in with my letters.  Maybe take him to the store and let him pick out some little cards he'd like to send to her!!!!

MBSMomx2,

So happy to see you here!!  I sent you a personal welcome on your profile page!!  Two at the same time!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!  Tomorrow hubby and I are spending the day in St Augustine and then going out to dinner.  It's our 40th anniversary!!!  Unfortunately I am on some medication right now that does not go well with alcohol so I can't toast champagne with him!!  Monday I'm having a surgical procedure done at the VA hospital.  Say a prayer for me for no complications!!!  (no sadly, it's not my knee!!!)

Missnavymom I did most of the correspondence but my husband did sit down and write one letter. He would also put a little note at the bottom of my letter. My daughter knows how much we both love her and also knows that momma is the letter writer. I'm not sure that my husband is different from most men.

Oleander - thanks for all your great information through bootcamp and graduation.  You and Lemon Elephant were a God send.  My daughter is just beginning her A school, so I may look for advice later if you don't mind.  You're a year in and have so much valuable advice !

Morning and Happy Friday!

Yay for letters Steph's Mom and mysailormeg! May 8th will be 1 year since my sailors PIR, I kept all of our letters to each other and plan to re-read them as a tribute to all of her hard work and progress!

May is just around the corner for you and MBSMomx2! So excited for you!

Heading to the wine country tomorrow for a few days to celebrate my husband's birthday. I'll toast you all over a glass of bubbly! Have a great weekend everyone.

Happy Friday!  TWO WEEKS UNTIL PIR!!!  Counting the days.  Got a short and so sweet letter from my SR yesterday.  She also wrote longer letters to several of her friends which made me happy.  She told them she was doing well...loving the progress she is making and that this is the best thing she has done with her life.  Oh my heart.  Even typing it makes me well up with pride (and relief!).  She told me she needs Chardonnay and a hug, both I can arrange!

I hope everyone has a great day and that we all get a call on Saturday.  I haven't missed a call yet but it's one of my biggest fears or dreaded moments.  Pretty good at having it with me though.  Love and prayers!!

Here's a couple oddball things after PIR....they are not allowed to hug each other, not allowed to give high fives and not allowed to give the thumbs up !  And....before they go outside they have to be in the "uniform of the day" which for my daughter included trench coat and cover because it was still cold outside. They are so disciplined about it, they stop and deal with it before they walk out with their families.

Congratulations on your letter Steph's Mom!  It's nice to hear that she's doing well and making friends.  Seemed like my daughter was sick at BC also, I guess all those people in such a tight space doesn't help.

Smiling thinking about your up coming phone call.  Still love to look at my phone and see that my sailor is calling, it totally makes my day.

Afternoon all,

3 more weeks to go...WooHoo...

Got a letter from my sweet daughter today. Um she's sick...again. Sinus and upper respiratory infection. Other than that she says she's doing pretty good, made some friends and getting thru. She did say she should be able to call me Saturday so guess what's going to be glued to my hip? I'll probably be at work but I already them listen my phone rings and its my daughter I'm on automatic break...

She did mention that liberty won't be that long so we'll just have to make the best of it. I have her for a few hours on Friday then she flies out to San Antonio Saturday morning.

My other spilled the beans about my father and his wife not coming to her grad, surprisingly she wasn't upset. She said all that matters is that her sister and I are there.

Anyway, need to get back to work, been bummed but now that I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and getting closer to seeing her and squishing the life out of her I can smile again.

Have a great afternoon.
