hellraiser,

You are so right!!  I was just curious when I read your post about going to MC.  She has to be happy with her choice one way or another!!!  I hope she enjoys her new assignment!!  Keep us posted - they are all our girls!!!!!!!

Anna, at this moment she wants to go back to MA. She said it really depends on how she likes her new rate. Only time will tell. We told her if she finds something she lover then keep it. Don't go back to MA cause we want u to. As her parents we will support her decision. She has to be happy with her job!

cjbmom,

So nice to see you on here.  This Christmas is the second time in 35 years that I won't be able to spend it with any of my children.  I also have spent years missing Christmas with my daughter Catherine who was stationed in WA.  We only got to spend one Christmas with her.  I accept that life as I knew it with all the children on Christmas morning would never be the same.  I do skype with the kids, even Sailor Son when he was deployed on the ground in Afghanistan.  I have my moments of sadness and certain memories, songs, scenes will give me a moment of tears.  But I think it all has to do with kids growing up and leaving the nest.  I can't say it gets any easier - I think as Blondie says, we just learn to adjust.  With this being your first time you need to acknowledge that your feelings are not odd or wrong or anything to be guilty about.  You miss your girl, the media keeps shoving at us that the holidays are all about families getting together and lots of kids running around playing.  I know I will have my sadness but I also know how proud I am of my kids and what they have done.  I try to remember to appreciate what I do have, a loving relationship with all my kids, and wanting nothing but the best for them - even if I can't be with them!!    I hope you find peace and comfort this special holiday season!!!  Sending you cyber hugs {{{ . . }}}

hellraiser,

So glad she is happy about her orders.  You mentioned in one post that she could try to get MA later after she rates back up.  Is that still her desire or is she looking at other options for the long haul.  Mass Communications would be a fun rating I think.  I suggested that to my daughter but she wasn't interested!!!!

Hello Jean!!!

Hi Ladies,

I don't post on here very often so I thought I'd stop in and say hi.  I hope everyone has a very happy Holiday Season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.

I have to ask the veteran moms for some advice on how you deal with the holidays without your children?  While I'm very happy for all the posting about people getting to spend the holidays with their Sailors, I know I won't get to.  She's newly overseas in Bahrain and I won't get to see her for a couple of years.  This being the first is especially difficult.  I do get to Skype and FaceTime which I'm very grateful for, just curious as to how you deal with all of this at first.  I know as the years come it will get easier.

Thanks!

Airmen- aviation field she said. She's going to try and strike for Mass communication after she's able to rank back up.

I sure will. She's excited. Everyone she's talk to that got orders are mad at her cause she apparently got the best ones. Even the chief there said he's been trying to get stationed there and had been denied and yet she gets it. All she could do was smile and said she's well liked lol. I think now that the crowd she was with all been sent to different places she will be just fine.

Anna, not really. I still read everyone's post but don't always have internet to respond.

hellraiser,

Tell your girl to keep her eyes on the future and to continue to follow her dreams.  She's been set back a bit but she's not out of the game!!!

Anna all we know is Airmen school. She said something about learning the flight deck. She will be there 3 weeks after she classes up in January. Then off to Virginia. She was told she will have to rank back up to a E3 b4 she can strike a new rate.
