Thanks Blondie. Yes she's was out of high school 3 weeks amd left for the Navy. Broke our hearts but especially her 11 yr old brothers heart. They were so close. I haven't seen him more excited then he is. 23 hour car trip I think he only slept a few hours lol. It's definitely going to he bittersweet come Friday and see them 2 together. Can't wait to c her. We will probably just hang out at the airport makes it easier.

Well first off we have arrived in Great lakes safely! 2nd our Sailor got to call us! She was excited that we r right down the road. She was able to give us her info for PIR and fly out info. That's where I have a question at.shes to arrive early at airport but Flys out late. Was told she can't go to the Hilton that's attached to airport from what I read on the US Navy Command fb page. But was told by others she can as long as it's not In her name. Does anyone who just recently PIR know about that?

Good morning everybody

Yay!!! Congratulations cjbmom! Enjoy every second!

Hang in there Jean, only a couple more days.

Right Blondie? I watched a couple of PIR's prior to my daughter's hoping I wouldn't make a fool of myself when it was our turn. Nope --- cried like a baby. Something so profound about seeing them for the 1st time since they left for BC - dress whites, marching to the drums in perfect formation, American flag proudly displayed in the hall -- chills from head to toe!

My baby girl passed all her final tests this week and is a Master at Arms!! (Sharpshooter too!)  She should be home this weekend for a couple of weeks before heading over to Bahrain for 2 years!  Can't wait to see her and spend some time with her, so excited! Happy Hump day to everyone!

hellraiser,

So exciting!!!  Safe travels and enjoy every minute of your time with your new sailor!!!

angelmomma and Ashleighmom,

Oh it's so hard for those first several weeks when you don't get to hear from them!!!  Take comfort in the "no news is good news" but I know that just doesn't take the place of hearing how they're doing!!!

roliesmom,

So glad she is enjoying VA.  I'm going to be there Labor Day weekend and I'm so excited!!!  It is nice that she has some extended family nearby.  For awhile when my Catherine was still in WA my nephew relocated there and they had some nice visits!!  I hope she and her cousin find good opportunities to get together.
