Good morning all, thanks.

I am getting ready for Chrissy's 2nd deployment after her leave. What helped me thru the 1st one was my faith and my church friends. Even when I didn't know or she couldn't tell me things, I believed God knew where she was and I prayed for her and her shipmates. We have a Navy tradition called the Blue Candle.  click Event  It helps a lot!

Good Morning to Everyone.

9 days left at this job and counting. Today they call for a mandatory overtime. I really don't know what they are going to do when they loose us. The people in Virginia are not that good. They are making errors a lot. I keep trying to put myself back in there shoes but I had other people to help. They are rapidly loosing that. I still haven't heard anything from my phone interview. I hope they call soon. While off to work I go. Yuck. I am going to take a few days off before I call the temp agency to get me back on there. Have a fantastic Monday everyone.

Good morning everyone,

Styliniroc, when my girl was deployed, it also took anywhere from a week to over a month. I had request from shipmates, and mailed 6 boxes at one time, numbered the boxes. # 6 and 3 got there in a week, the rest were spread out over a month. You just never know. They also had several tons of mail go overboard, so you just never know. Just keep mailing. LOL.

BLondie, stay safe in all that flooding.

Met Anna and her husband yesterday, we had such a good time, hated for it to end! I will post a picture when I get home from work.

Have a good day everyone, God Bless all of our Sailors. And all of you.

styliniroc, as far as the mail drop while deployed...it just depends on if you catch them when they are dropping.  Sometimes it can be as quick as a week to as slow as a month.  I found it helpful to number the boxes that way we knew which ones she got. I could mail two boxes at the same time and she may or may not have gotten them together LOL  I do remember when she was in at her duty station, mailing to the ship and like you said it would take FOREVER for her to get her mail...it was ridiculous!  I do think they try to get them their mail/packages asap if nothing else to help with morale while deployed. At least that's what I tell myself ;-)

Well, maybe it was so delayed because she had just arrived there? Hopefully in the future, we have the week or so delivery times! Thanks!

Gosh, that i know nothing about.seems like it did not take more than a week or so most of the time. Keep your phone taped to your hip...great visual...lol

Thanks so much for the advice! I always have my phone on and with me now, and Skype is always switched to "available", so when she sets out, I will probably duct tape it to me then, haha. She does get a kick out of my silly gifts, notes and texts now. Sending care packages will be fun to put together. My understanding is packages sent to the ship while out at sea, make it to the ship much faster than while it is in port? Do you know anything about that? When she first went to her duty station, I used the ship address to send things before she found a friend with a street address to send her mail, and it took 5 weeks to get to her.

Yes, i agree. Just be sure o always have phone/computer on so you guys can Skype occasionally. Those are the best...although not nearly enough for its moms.;( she will be busy art sea studio don't worry too much when you don't hear...it appears to be normal. And usually can't give you their location unless they are in port. Just have fun shopping and mailing packages to feel closer to her...and letters of course. Even silly things are great...makes them smile at how silly we are.

Thank you for the welcome spyder013! As much as I will hate when she is with the fleet and out at sea, and not be able to have as much contact as while she is in port, some days, I preferred the days of boot camp when I didn't know everything that was going on! I am so grateful we are so close, and she can confide in me, trust me, and finds comfort talking to me, but oh man, I wish I didn't know the daily up's and down's and chaos of her daily life some days.
