Praying for her Splash, and for you too. ((((HUGS))).

Jean, it has been raining hard off and on, I am loving it! Not to good for all that live in the Burn areas though, nothing to hold the hill sides.

spyder, racing like crazy here, should be moving your way soon.

Have a good weekend everyone. Stay safe, and God bless our sailors, and all our troops

CryptoDad...thank you again. I think you are right...it does not make sense and someone is messing with her. We should have more information today.

Good Morning to Everyone.

Splash we will pray for your daughter that she will be safe.

Well we made it through the High winds last night. I swear that my house was going to fall with each gust. It was loud too. I hope all the California people are doing well. You got the rain that we were suppose to have. Well we actually got the rain too but not as bad as they did. WOW.

Happy Fridady!!! WE MADE IT!

What "combat zone" are we talking about? Currently the Marines have ceased combat activities in Afghanistan and are coming home. In Iraq there are no US troops engaged in ground combat. Some Marines are serving as advisers to the Iraqi army, but most are security forces in Baghdad,

A Marine Expeditionary Unit is a quick reaction force, deployed and ready for immediate response to any crisis. They are not used for sustained ground combat. Certainly not advisers or security forces. MEUs strike from the sea, secure a beachhead and hold ground until heavy forces arrive. These are the traditional gung-ho Marines of Guadalcanal and Inchon.

Last I read, there was one single amphibious assault ship operating within the Persian Gulf area, It is believed to be standing by should Americans need to be evacuated from Iraq.  Again, quick reaction, in and out,

Where an S-PACT Sailor, straight out of school, would fit into this picture is a mystery. PACT is a monitored apprenticeship program for training undesignated Seamen to become members of the surface fleet, not sand pounders. Splash's daughter would be excess baggage in a combat zone, especially the fast moving combat of an MEU. Yes, there are Sailors that operate with the Marines, but they are fully trained for specific tasks. Ground combat is no place for the unprepared.

Again, its my belief that someone is messing with a Ricky's head.

Anna she has expressed interest in gunners mate. Not sure why she is interested. I will keep you informed as safely as I can. I may never be able to sleep again. Thank you for your information.

splash,

Did your daughter mention any interest in being a corpsman or Intelligence???  I know those two ratings go in with the Marine groups.  Also it could be as a Seabee.  Since she is undesignated they will put her in a job where she can get training if she then chooses to stay in that rating.  That's how I got into the Operations Specialist rating years ago.

We will certainly keep her in our prayers and you will have to fill us in (as much as you can SAFELY do) when you find out more.  Last year this time my son was in Afghanistan working with the Afghan pilots and the Air Force.  He also lived in a tent, worked in a tent, and ate in a tent!!!!  That was all they had!!!!!  And yes,  Momma worried!!!!!

My Sailor's Middle East experience involved living in a luxury high-rise for a year and the most dangerous thing she encountered daily was insane traffic. I worried anyway. Its a parent's prerogative.

It sounded strange to me as well but you never know. I do not have any Military experience at all.  Again...thank you!

maybe I will now sleep tonight
