JayDee,

I hope your daughter gets her leave to come home for Thanksgiving.  I don't know when was the last time I shared that holiday with our kiddos!!!!  I think this Christmas I'll get to spend with my sailor son and his family in Whidbey but it will just be them and me!!  Hubby can't even go!!

TXmom,

I'm slightly prejudice when it comes to OS!!!  That's the rate I was when I served so I'm always excited to see another women go that rating!!!!  I would love to know what she does in her job when she gets out in the fleet!!

Oleander,

What exactly is LOW 100s!!!!!  To me anything over 90 is HIGH!!!!   LOL!!!!

Lulubugg,

Oh I so understand those changes in our girls!!!  When my daughter got out of OCS all she did was yell everything!!!  I try to keep up on some of those acronyms but it's a whole new language!!!  And yes, seems "that thing" is pretty common in the Navy!!!  Or, we're going "there again!!!"  There where????  Can't tell me!!!!

Some good news for me!!!  I got approved to go back to the surgeon who did my right knee to get the left knee replaced!!!  I am beyond excitement to see him again next week!!!  Will keep you posted!!!!

LuLubugg, You got the right idea, hang on for dear life!  And ENJOY.  It's so Fun watching them become Wonderful women and Sailors. Their expressions, mannerisms, voices LOL   WE love to SHARE. so bad with tears or Joy laughing and crying come here, We LOVE to support each other.

JayDee, Same here, I got so I'd ask Sailor, How'd the thing go?  and she'd look blankly at me and we'd both crack up laughing.  Cause she had no idea which "thing" I was talking about, But neither did I.  I call it, "Giving it back "  LOL  kept me from going nutty.  Or if she asked about her Dad or siblings, I'd say, Doing their thing. Bahahaha

Lulubugg we noticed the same type of thing with our girl.  She speaks in acronyms and Navy all the time now.  Even more annoying is she'll start to tell me something and use "the thing" for what she's not allowed to tell us.  "we were working on the thing when a thing happened".  What?  Drove me insane at first now it just makes me a bit nutty.

@Blondie thank you for the kind words supporting our young women Sailors and their growth.

I gotta tell you a funny story. When my Sailor Girl came home she was “yelling” lol lol compared to her old standard of talking. She was very soft spoken and barely talked over a whisper. Talking in Navy lingo and we wore like; “ugh???” She would giggle. When she  walked around the house it, seem like double time to us.

What a transformation is such a short period of time. Great to watch and  I am proud to be a Navy Mom.

So, Blondie the rollercoaster ride is just starting, well I am gonna hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

So true Blondie! Every day is a holiday when we see our kids!

Anna, that's the cruise I wanted to go on but we chose to go with friends who had a different route. Still, it was such a wonderful time I'm glad we shared it with friends. Glad to have you back.

Fingers crossed your daughter gets to be with you at Thanksgiving JayDee!

Still hot here ladies...still triple digits but at least it's low 100's. Can it be fall weather soon? Please??

Crossing my fingers for ya JayDee and sending up a Prayer.  It's always hard during the Holidays.  Depending where she is and how long she's been there..... Usually they either get Thanksgiving or Christmas, New Year.  most stations try to be fair about it.  They can only let so many go at once, so it becomes a numbers game and importance. If they have a high important job and few in that specialty it's harder to get time off. my daughter was Intel and after 5 years of not seeing her I went to Japan to spend time with her. Then there was bad weather (everywhere) and flights couldn't get in/out so she worked most of the 2 weeks we were there.  Now since she's been in the states, she always asked for Thanksgiving, let the families have Christmas was her thinking. Now that she has a family.....We just Pray Joe makes it home before Christmas.  At our house (and our many kids) any day they can make it home is a Holiday!

Blondie, "roller coaster" is the best word to describe life as a Navy family.  My daughter has stated that she is going to try to come home for Thanksgiving.  I have my fingers double crossed as she'd put in a chit for Father's Day but it was denied.  Hoping she can get this one!

So PROUD of all our girls!  Love hearing about all your daughters.  It is Exciting watching them grow and become these Fabulous women and Sailors. And it does get easier in "school" they get more liberties but then deployments come with more tears.  The Roller Coaster continues.  Just know we're all here to help each other through.  My daughter and 1 nephew are out now. But my SIL, another nephew and a soon to be nephew are still active.  2 of which are deployed the other leaves in Sept.  I also have an adopted son(deployed) and adopted daughter reserve(after active 8 years) and working for the FBI now. So I have years to go yet, Loving every minute of it!

 Navy Mom HUGS to all

@TxMom  my daughter graduated the same day Div 280, she graduated A School August 3rd, she was in   Pensacola.

Yeah, we didn’t hear much from her in BC, but I kept the letters going. It sure made us feel better and I know she felt all the LOVE. I wrote encouraging words, printed out news articles and keep positive energy going.

Now each morning I send a brief good morning text and have a good day. Best part she can respond back and rather quickly.

@Lulubugg Your post made me tear up at how exciting it will be to see our daughter in a month or so.  I'm so happy you got to have a visit. That is exciting your sailor got to come home last week for a visit.  Our daughter graduated BC on July 13 and is in OS A School in GL we are so excited she finally started school and looking forward to her coming home for a short visit around the end of Sept.

I know during BC our daughter did not write much but each time she called she would ask to continue sending encouraging letters.  They did make her home sick but she also said they helped.
