My son started BECC two weeks ago and then is hoping that he will not be on hold again before his HT strand starts.  All this waiting is crazy.

@lemaygirl,   when mine went thru A school (6 1/2 yrs ago), It did not take anywhere near 18 weeks. He PIR'd in early Oct and was at his first duty station after graduating A school as a hull tech by early March.   they had just started a new system of kinda go at your speed.  But I know there has been a lot of delays lately getting into the classes.  so maybe that's where the 18 weeks comes into play.  I do believe that even if they go at their own speed for each section there may still be a time limit as to how long they can take to finish.  Mine was get it done as fast as he can so he could move on.. he's much more of a hands doer than one to take time studying.   so if your's has a class date, that's progress in its self.

My son got "classed up" this morning.  His HT classes will be at night.  I've read conflicting information about how long the training will take 54days to18 weeks. Any one know how long it takes? He finished BECC last week

Halleluia!  My son started BECC classes today.  He said he may be on hold again after BECC is over, before his HT strand starts.  Are we suprised about that news?!  lol

@ Ryan's Mom - Vicky  BECC is the course they take before HT classes I think it stands for Basic Engineering Core Classes.  I'm under the understanding that all "engineer" type sailors start with that and then branch out into their more specific "expertises"  for the HT it's welding.

My son PIR'd 1/31 and is on hold for HT until...... spring???  Any word?  What is BECC?

My son's PIR was 1/3 and is also waiting to start A School. The latest I heard was that it may be around April maybe closer to May. But this is Military life. Hurry up and wait. :) Hopefully it will be sooner but I doubt it.

Your son has been waiting for quite some time now.  All of this waiting has got to be difficult.  My son's PIR was 1/24.

My son is awaiting HT school. PIR 11/27

I googled BECC Quizlet - go to the BECC-mod flash cards.  There are several mod numbers, so I assume they are all related.  I don't know if it's an app to download or not.  My son said he's met 2 HT's awaiting A school.  Maybe one is your son!
