Hi Ladies,  My son was recently switched as undesignated - from Damage Control to Hull Tech with an opening - so far so good - but I have no idea what it really is - glad I found this group.  They are being deployed end of this month. Going to Norfolk, VA to see his ship off.

I really just know about the basics of the job. I don't know what kind of family life we will have???

My Husband Is at RTC right now but his rate is HT-ATF. I am really curious as to how our family life will be. My daughter is 5 months now and i just wanted to ask people with experience because our recruiters can't tell me much.

Our son's PIR weekend (10-21-11) was awesome!  It was great to see the divisions marching in and all that Navy tradition! We had Friday (after moving over to A school ship) and Saturday with him, before we had to go.  Wonderful time in Chicago - he really wanted Pizza, so we took him out to Lou Malnati's for deep dish.  When we were eating out on Friday night, a group of sailors were there for dinner, at the next table.  After they finished, they came over to our table and handed our son some money and said "Welcome aboard, shipmate!" He also had several people come over to him and say " Thank you for serving!"too.  Made us feel so proud.

Now he's started A school,at least I think so, but I haven't heard much from him.  He seemed to think he could bring a car there soon, but from what I've heard , I don't think so.  I hope he's enjoying A school.

SheilaD-hang in there girlfriend.... do what I did.  Go to Special Hugs and start packing up stuff and sending to our guys and gals already out there in the thick of things.  I went overboard!!!!  It really did pass the time.  Shopping ALWAYS makes ya feel better and you get a lot of practice for when you want to send your sailor something.
