For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Laura, that's awesome. Please don't tell my son about Italy. He wanted Italy or Greece so badly but when he had to pick orders a few months ago that was not one offered. He will be leaving Japan within the next few months and knows where he is supposed to go but he has not gotten written orders yet. His other choice was in Europe but it seems he is destined to stay in the Pacific Fleet. At least now he is back to shore duty for a couple of years (as of this writing anyway). Hurry up and wait, and nothing's etched in stone...military mottos we all have to live with. Congrats to your sailor for a great assignment and congrats to you for making it through sea duty and active deployment twice.

Hello all!
I'm checking in again now that I can breathe! My son returned from his 2nd, almost back to back, deployment from out yonder. Also, the 2nd time he was floating around on a steel city.
The good news for him is that it looks like, knock on wood, he will be getting his first pick for shore duty...Italy! I'm so happy for him.
If any new moms have any questions I will be happy to help out with answers whenever I can. Good luck to all our sailors out there! They are in a difficult, demanding, rewarding rate. God bless them!

England is good too. My son wanted to go there for his next duty station but at the last minute that became his second choice. A couple of the "original" moms here had folks in England but I don't recall knowing any of the current folks there.

My son wanted England but the young lady who was number 3 picked those orders so he and his buddy took the orders to Japan since they could go together. He loves it so far.

logansmom, Japan is nice. They do have a country-wide curfew that all the sailors must adhere to but my son has enjoyed his time there. He will be coming back stateside next year, after 5 years overseas. He still will not be close but at least he will be on this side of the International Date Line. :-) Best of luck to her and if she wants Japan, then I hope she gets it.

My IS is half way through A school. We just left there today after spending the weekend with her. She can't stay out over night but could be with us until 11:45 each evening. If you want to visit you can stay relatively cheap on Virginia Beach right now. We have stayed at The Schooner and at The Breakers and both were very nice and under $70 a night. She studies a lot and stays busy all the time, but seems to be doing well. She would love to go to Japan after C school.

Hi! I live less than 5 miles from Dam Neck and my IS recently graduated from C school and is now I. Japan. They can't share 99% of what they do, but a lot of study time is required, including weekends.

hishippygirl, It really is an adjustment during bootcamp. Once they are at school and have access to their phone it's not so bad until they get to the end of A school and into C school. They say C school is like A school on steroids! lol This is a time for you to make those mental and emotional adjustments though. Once they are out in the fleet, there may be weeks at a time when you don't hear from them again. That's their life and we might have to deal with that kind of stuff throughout their careers. All in all though it is not bad. We all adjust in our own time. Good luck through it!
