Hi Navy Diver Moms/Wives/GFs!

Just wanted to see if anyone has any information on dive prep graduation in GL?  I've heard it's not a big ceremony like PIR and A school graduation, but I just wanted to see if anyone has ever been.  Any info would help a ton!

Hi Courtrenee,

Staying on base was great for graduation but you will need a rental car. Very much cheaper. I found that staying at condo was better when we visited because the boys are so tired of seeing each other every day that its a great break for them. Thats what my son wanted. He needed a break. It can be hard when you spend 24 hrs a day 5 days a week with someone. I hope this helps. Takecare

InaiPaul- thank you very much for your feedback! I know dive school/training is very challenging and I want my hubby to be fully focused & dedicated! I want what's best for him through that time... so maybe living on base is best for him?! I hope I get to know more wives & people in the dive community as his career advances... also, where are we allowed to stay on base if we decide to spend the weekend there? is there a hotel? why do you not really recommend it? ( good/bad experiences)?
thanks so much! you can feel free to friend me on here &'write back in a message :)

Hi Courtrenee,

I am not sure. I knew in my sons group they had to stay together at all times. They don,t get done training till 8 or 9 at night then its off to bed. I know its hard for spouces as their husbands goes through this training. It is a very hard and difficult training and they need to be on top of their game. Military spouces do make hard sacrifices for their loved ones. My son just got back from his first deployment and it was soo hard for him. It was very hard not to see him for 6 months and skype is horrible in the middle east. Its something they sign up to do but divers are a small community. I was very blessed that his chiefs wife included me and would check up on me. They are very good about that. Everyone in my sons unit had a wife and kids so it was nice that they made me felt welcome. We visited our son in PC once a month on the weekends which made it great to spend time with him. You can stay on base but it is better to rent a car and stay in a condo on the beach. Takecare

If I remember correctly there was a sailor who was married in my son's class and I think he did live off base with his wife.  I remember my son commenting that training was a little different for him since he could go home every night to his wife and not stay with all the other guys.  Remember, it is still a team building exercise.  They MUST be able to work together and trust each other inexplicitly.

Hello Diver veteran moms/gf's/wives... I am hoping you can help with with a few questions....

As the divers are in dive school in PC, can they live off base with their families or they have to live on base because it is still "school"? we have a 2 kids and it would be nice to live with him in PC while he goes through that 4 months or so of training, but I haven't heard we are allowed to?

Attention Navy Diver Moms,

Last week we lost two of our divers during a training session in Maryland. One of the divers leaves two young daughters. They have set up a fund to get divers to the funerals to support the families as well as give the balances to the families. Please go to: www.youcaring.com/other/help-us-get-there-/44965 to help.

CourtRenee, our Sailor said that he has a really good chance of going to VA.  He will find out this week.  From our conversations, I know he has had good (easy) weeks and other s were hard. His group worked as a team and helped each other through. I believe they only had one member roll back.  we live in Pennsylvania so we did not visit. He was home for Christmas and New Year's. We do a lot of Face time in our house....lol . Good luck to your Sailor.
