Adamsproudmama- let me know where he gets stationed!! the anticipation of where we will get stationed is killing me, lol! I've heard a lot of diver's get stationed in California, we will see!!

How did he say it was? extremely hard?
also, were you allowed to go see him while he was there?

We' 're getting ready to go to dive school graduation on April 3. I cannot wait to see our Sailor again. It's been a long time since I've seen his face. We spoke with him tonight and he has made it through pool week. Just a few more tests to take. He gets orders on Monday.

No, I think I remember that the class number changes.  They sometimes meet up with other sailors for the PC class (ones that didn't finish with an earlier class due to injury or whatever, and even some other individuals in need of second class diver training).

CourtRenee,  here is a link to the dive school in PC.  They will have the classes listed with the anticipated graduation dates.  You'll need to know his class number or his start date.

Can someone please tell me how long Diver school is in Panama City? I thought it was 6 months, but heard it was 4?

Thanks proudnavywife. It seems divers seem to be in the san diego area often?!?!

The visits help pass the time, something to look forward too and get excited for.  And it will give your sailor a much needed break from dive school and motivation to help him get through it all.

He didn't really pick orders - because we were married, they were limited on where they could send us, and then there were only the exact number of open billets for number of guys graduating with his rate. So we are in San Diego now.

ProudNavyWife- where did you guys get stationed ? also, did your sailor get to chose where he wanted?

Comment by CourtRenee on February 22, 2013 at 3:47pm

Thank you! I live only 6 hours from there, so we are there very often anyways, we LOVE it!! :)
I just wondered if that would even be an option, but I guess it sounds like a no go. visiting it will be it seems...

Since it's still a school, the only where you could move their is on your own dime and find your own housing.  Dive school is really intense and time consuming, and generally exhausting - your diver would have to live on base while training and studying anyways, so it probably wouldn't be worth it.  But it's a great place to visit - the beaches are so great, especially a little further out of panama city, it's much cleaner and more like a sleepy-beach town, better for kids.
