I have another question,
I know that Diver school is in Panama City.
Are we, ( wife & kids) allowed to move there with our sailor? I know it is still considered school, so I didn't know if the family is allowed to live with them on base there while they are in diving school?

He's in BC now... graduates 3/29. He has the diver contract... I'm praying all goes well :)

so does it seem that divers are usually stationed in one place more than another? I just can't wait to see where we're gonna be stationed?

MY3SONS...Yes, Dive prep has an address, Your sailor can give it to you when they get there.  Its not the same for each division so you will have to get it from him.   They can take cell phones, lap tops, and civilian clothing.   However, they can't wear their civilian clothing until they are told they can.  I would limit how much they take.  This is not a permanent station for them and they will be moving alot and they just have to take all that with them.

Hi My3sons, I don't see anything in my inbox from you.  When did your sailor get to GL Dive Prep?  Mines PIF was 02/08.

We just got back from visiting my son stationed at Pearl Harbor! He's doing great and will be leaving the 14th for a 6 month ship assignment.  We had a great time and I am now in the process scheduling to go back next December.  He and I will be running in the Honolulu Marathon!

Ladyhawk,

After graduation they are assign their unit and where they are station. They try and let the ones that are married to be assign close to home. They try and assign them close to home. We live in Baltimore,md so he is station in Virginia beach but he is going to put in for San diego in May. At first he was going to be assign to a seal team as a diver but he was able to  talk to his instructor to be assign an EOD diver. He grades were the highest in his class so he got to pick. It soley depends on the instructors. His one teammate  was able to go bach to HI where he lived and he was also married. Hope this helps.

Hi Marie,

Congrats to your son. My son is deploy in the middle East. Hei s an EOD diver. He travels everyweek but does not tell me where He call me every week to check in . He gave me an email so I can send him emails and he responds back quickly. Their division is small so his Master chief call when they are depoly to let you know they got to where they are going safetly and he gives you his cell phone just in case you might need to get hold of your son right away. The other divers wives also keep in touch. I am the only mom which is funny. My son is the youngest. He was only 18 when he graduated Dive school. He has never been away from me this long so he has been home sick and somewhat fustrated at times.

In Dive prep they only need their basic stuuf and laptop. I got a verizon broadband for my son because services in their room is horrible. I sent snacks and cookies every 2 weeks and I would go visit him once a month. I stayed at the hotel with the indoor water park can,t remember the name but its very close to the base.I did also send him lots of protein bars, airborne and vitamins. I notice due to the extensive training many guys got sick. The training will push them to the limit. I always told my son to meditate alot and pray. Its all mentall and when you learn to build your strenght mentally you can get through anything. i hope this help.
