@ LadyHawk..I am new to this too.  However, I am under the impression there will be no break between dive prep and dive school.   I could be wrong.   But I have seen no indication of a break.

It also could also be determined by which graduation group they were in.   My son graduated on 12-21 and it was the first time ever that the Navy gave the sailors a break after bootcamp.  They have always gone from bootcamp to A school.   So, therefore, I do not expect my son to get a break after A school.   However, for those groups graduation that do not get a break between Bootcamp and A school, the Navy could  let them have a few days.

@ LadyHawk..When they are at Bootcamp they have one day that they get some free time.   It is on Sunday.   However, that can be taken away.   That is when they can write letters.   So if your Sailor writes a letter you will receive it anywhere from Wednesday to Saturday.   So basically they get to write once a week if they actually write.   You need to write them everyday if possible.   Just remember that you can't send them any care packages or goodies.   They should not receive cards that are musical, have glitter, or pop up.   If their RDC do not like what they see, they will not only punish them but the division.   Keep the letters white envelopes and if you send cards, I would chose white envelopes for those too.

Thank you for the prayers so far.  Matt continues to need prayers.  He now has pnuemonia.  They have not been able to do the surgery on his back yet due to this and other complications.  This delay is surgery is not good because that allow swelling to continue.  He is still on a ventilator and still has no movement in his legs.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. He is a very nice young man. May God guide the Dr's and put his healing hand on him.

Prayers being said for this young diver by the mom of a ND. May he know the dive community supports him.

Good Morning...I'm not the Mom of a Diver (my son is an MA) but my co-worker is the Uncle of one.  His nephew is stationed up in Groton and flipped his jeep the other night and is fighting for his life.  He's unconscious and they almost lost him yesterday.  He does not appear to have any feeling below his waist.  I would like to ask my fellow Navy Mom's to PLEASE be in prayer for this young Sailor!!  I told my co-worker that us Navy Mom's are a strong group and we will all be praying together for Matt.  Thank You!!

Just joined this group and read back thru a few pages to see how things work in the dive community. My son is going to dive prep in Feb '13 - anyone else have sailors headed that way around this time?

Thank you, MM. I will look into it!

My navy diver has been at his duty station in Jacksonville Fla for one year and has not been issued a dive watch. We would like to buy him one for Christmas. Any suggestions as to the kind of watch navy divers have already been issued so I can get him a similar one? Thanks so much!
