Hello All!

My daughter will be signing up as a depper (did I say that right) this summer and is going to try like all get out for the diving program.  She's been working out...though needs to start running.  She took the ASVAB a month ago. Her scores will not hold her back.  Does anyone know at what point recruits go to MEPS?  The recruiter she has must be SUPER busy, as it's hard to get responses from him.  Thank you in advance.  :)

My son is Evan. Glad to hear that he was nice and helpful. the group is pretty small, so I'm sure they know each other by now.

Texasnavymom why is your sons name? My son met a couple of divers tonight that have been there awhile. He said they were nice and helpful. My sons name is Justice. I was just thinking that maybe they may know eachother.

Congrats to your son LedaB!!!!! That's so exciting! If you know his favorite protein bar...send him some. Our son LOVES peanut butter, so I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and bought him cases of "Supreme Protein Peanut Butter Crunch Bars" They seem to be the best tasting that we've found. Supreme also has a Carmel Nut Crunch one too....pretty amazing also!! Also, remind him to drink a ton of water. If he thinks he drank a lot....drink more. It will keep his kidneys flushed, trust me on that one! :)

No, he did not get a break in between diver prep and training in panama city. His training in pc did span the Christmas haoludaya though and they were given the option to go home if they wanted. His dad surprised us all and bought our sailor his airline ticket so Ryan could walk in Christmas morning. He did take some leave after pc before his next assignment.

Thanks for the info Caron. We are looking forward to
It! Did your son get a break between A school and PC? We are hoping our son will get a break and will able to come home for a little bit.

Yes there is a graduation from dive prep and one from dive school in panama city.. they are both great to be at since it will be only his class. Talk about being a proud mom. I love seeing my son so happy.

Hi Ladies!! We are in Great Lakes now enjoying every second we have with our son. He graduated BC yesterday and has now moved across the street for dive prep. If all goes well he will be finished the last part of June. Does anyone know if will there be a ceremony for this that parents attend?

My son is in dive prep now also.  He finished bc in November, but was placed on medical hold and missed going on with his division.  He and another nd have been waiting for all these months for the next group of divers to go through bc, He is glad to finally class up.  Thanks for tips on what to send. I mailed some vitamin c and protein bars. I wish all our sons the best!

To AaronsMom- I totally agree with Inaipaul. Dive prep is where they are challenged at all times, both mentally and physically. My son requested protein bars, which he used all the time for fuel. One of the chiefs in Dive Prep liked to have granulated gatorade added to the large container of water, which they used every day, so I sent plenty of that. It is hard to find some of these products at the PX or store. What really helped my son and his fellow divers-to-be was sending him the comic strips from the paper each day. They all got a kick out of reading them and used them to clean the windows when they were finished with them. They become very close in Dive Prep and come together very much as a team. I wish you and your son good luck.
