JapanMom - Your son is at little creek right. I hope he is adjusting ok. Its a very small community there for the divers. I might be there on Thursday. I wanted to meet my sons dive locker. Bye Liza

Well my son has checked into his first command and seems to be really happy.  Glad to be done with school.   He didn't take any leave between school and checking into his first command but that is probably because we live so far away.  We are planning to go see him in September and I can't wait!

My son texts and calls me more now than he did before jpining the Navy.  It's great! He seems VERY happy with his choice and has his priorities straight.  He's in Diver's Preep right now but I can't wait for Dive School Graduation.  I just know he'll do great.

Mamasan - Your son will tell you the date for graduation. They usually get 10 days to go home and told when to report to their station. Graduation is very quick about an hour then a tour of base. As he gets closer to graduation he will have more information on details. I hope this helps. bye

Mamasan-after my son joined a class in PC he called me and told me his graduation date.  As for leave in between A school and first duty station.   They will usually not get 30 days in between as they have not accumulated that much leave.  Some Sailors will go home and work with the recruiters for a couple weeks which does not count as leave.  Leave days are calculated at 2 &1/2 days per month.  When he gets his orders in A school it will have the date he has to report to work at his new duty station.

Hi all,

We're trying to plan a bit with family for graduation from PC. I've heard rumors...and rumblings. Do they get a month to report to their first command? Is the final date listed on the PC site for each class the graduation date? For example..I think my son will be in class 1170. Here is the link
https://www.netc.navy.mil/centers/ceneoddive/ndstc/Courses.aspx?ID=2

It says they will graduate MPV 22 (which i believe is a typo...should be Nov 22), right?

But, JapanMom, it doesn't show any classes graduating in July. I just want to be sure I'm on the right page since we want to make reservations

Confusing? Sorry... thanks for your patience...

Liza-my son does like to surf.  He learned to surf when we were stationed in Hawaii so it has been a few years but I am sure he will be out there trying.  I also tried to learn to surf but the ocean scares the hell out of me.  I do scuba dive but I am considered the pansy diver....I only like calm, warm water diving off of a boat.  :)  Other than that the ocean is so powerful and it just makes me nervous.

Bensmom ,

My son had a hard time with pool week but the instructors do work hard with them. They will push him once they see that they are hard workers. My son did fail his first try but the instructor saw something in him so they worked with him. I skype my son every week while at dive prep and dive school the only thing is that service is hard at times on the base.

Richsmom - Nice to hear from you. My son told me that your R is doing well and he visited his new place off base. I am still looking for a place for him. I have been very picky. I wanted him to stay on base for awhile since he is so young and on base he will have a more structure enviroment. Please continue to keep in touch. Does your R gets deploy? Mine is suppose to be deploy to middle East next year. I am sooo nervous.

JapanMom - My son told me that they are getting a new guy to their unit. I am not sure if its your son. My son is an EOD diver with a Spec Ops unit. My son does alot of surfing in Virginia beach. Does your son likes to surf?

Takecare and have a great day. Liza

JapanMom, thank you so much for your explanation of pool week. I will be glad when it is over! Good luck to your son! Did anyone have a son who had PIR on Feb. 18, 2011? Division 805?

Richsmom-I am sure our boys will see each other.  The dive community is pretty small and a close knit family.  They really stick together and help each other out.
