Bensmom-I know pool week is tough.  My son is negative bouyancy so he struggled trying to stay afloat.  It took him a couple of times to pass.  My son was telling me that some kids are positive, which they have a hard time sinking, some are negative, they have a hard time floating and then the rest are in between.  My son loves the water and had no fear of it.  I never realized that he had a hard time floating.  I know they have to stay underwater for a long time and my son never wants to do that again.  When my son got injured and they were going to push him back he was dreading having to do the pool week again.  Thankful they just held him.  He pulled a muscle the day before they were to finish and he could not do the pull ups on his final fitness test.  They held him and then he did the pulls up with the class behind him.  Your son will do fine.

It's nice to read all the posts from you "seasoned" dive school moms, as well as everyone else. I have heard that pool week is really tough. Is it true that they stay underwater until they pass out? Scares the daylights out of me!! You all are so lucky to see your boys. I haven't seen mine since PIR graduation, which was Feb. 18th. Talking and texting just don't do it. One more month. Thanks for explaining the wish list of where they want to go to their first duty station.

Japan  So sorry to hear pneumonia 3 times.  Wow!  But he made it.  He's a tough bugger isn't he.   Maybe he'll see R when he gets there.  Who knows.  Hubby and I went there once to drop off R's bed.  Didn't go on base.  I'm new to this Navy thing so don't know if Little Creek is big or small but I can imagine that they may never pass each other.  Two of R's roomates are working with the Seals.  One is from their BC Div 818,  Kerry McG's son.

And my hubby and I got married after 6 months and we just celebrated our 30th anniversary.  Haha  Both of us could still be described as dingy. haha  But don't tell hubby I said that.

Glad you didn't feel the earthquake either.  I wouldn't be too thrilled with that either.

OK 8:30pm here.  Gonna take a tub,  Work tomorrow.  So glad to see you back.

Yes A will be in Little Creek.  I don't think he is going to get to dive much but it might be good.  He has pnemonia 3 times this last year.  I really think his lungs need a break with no water in them.  I am sure now that school is over that he should not be breathing in any more water!   I really didn't want A to get so serious so quickly but it is true that my husband and I only dated four months and got married.  I think it is good a thing with the girl as she keeps him grounded.  He is a little dingy sometimes and she is very level headed.  I think they are good for each other.  I am just glad they are going to not rush into anything right now.

That is good the R is in salvage.  That is what A wanted but he is with a logistical unit with the Seals.  I am not sure what they do but I guess we will find out soon.

Japan   Good for A and his girl.  Does it remind you of hubby and yourself?  Will he be in Little Creek?

R is doing some divng but not as much as he would like I'm sure.  He's in MDSU2   Salvage  He's loving life right about now.  He may come home for a visit this weekend.  Yeah!!

Mamasan-Where do you live in WA?  We just moved to Japan from Marysville.

Liza-Not going to PC, my second son just entered boot camp so we will go to great lakes to see his PIR.

Richsmom-A met a girl in Panama city so she is moving up with him.  They are going to get an apartment.  I am looking forward to meeting her this fall.  It is nice that R is so close.  Did he get a job that he gets to dive a lot?

Japan

R seems very happy in Little Creek  He lives off base with a few friends.  At first I could tell he actually missed Panama City, I think they all did. They had a great time there and this is now more klike work hahah.  But he seems really happy and he is only 3 hours away from us.

How about you being in GL the same exact time as ;ast  year.  SUre hope your son is not grad and go.  Does he know what he wants to do yet?

Its great to see this board livening up again.  Japan..you must be so happy!  I gotta admit...I just shivered when I saw the word "pool week" again.  Everything we heard about dive school made me think that GL was the toughest.  Based on hat I've heard the last few days here..I guess not.  I try to remind myself that the Navy very methodically prepares them for whatever they need to now...slowly, intentionally, intelligently.  So impressed by the organization of it all!

I'm on my way to pick up my sailor from GL for a weekend with family.  We live near Seattle but are visiting my parents about 2 hours south of GL.  It will be our last few days with him until after PC.  Its such an amazing time for him! He was looking for challenge...I think he's found it!

A graduates Dive School on Monday and heads to Little Creek, VA.   He is excited because he has a lot a friends from his first class (he was held back due to an injury) and a lot of his classmates now are going to Little Creek.  Orders are selected during pool week.  The detailer sends a list of job openings to the school house then the students are ranked based on class scores (#1 student picks first then #2 and on down the list) they choose orders off the list.

Richsmom- how does R like Little Creek?

Inaipual-very jealous you live close and get to see your son all the time.

We are going to try to come back stateside in Sept. to see our middle son graduate from bootcamp and then head over to VA to see A.
