Thank you, Inaipaul.  He has always been a water kid, and that is why he chose to go in as a diver.  He spends several hours in the pool everyday as part of his daily workout since signing up.  I have told him what I have read about diver prep being the hardest part.  He's still excited and can't wait to get started.  Thank you  again, and I will pass on the info.

Hi LadyHawk, theres a good chance they will since they are going for Diver after boot camp.  My son is on the same schedule in that he has to go to a Navy Hotel on the 5th and up at 4:00am to go to MEPS on the 6th and ship out that day.

My son leaves for RTC on July 6 and is going for diver also.  He can't wait to go to boot camp and get started.   I  can't believe it is almost here, but I have learned so much by reading this site.

Hi Mamasan,  I am pending approval from admin for the new Dive Prep group.  Looking forward to hearing reports of how it's going!

Welcome aboard Very Proud!

Gosh, very proud.  You have every right to be!  A few of us on here had PIR on 5/6.  He leaves for Great Lakes on the 7th?  If so, you're just at the beginning and in exactly the right place.  N4M's has been a lifesaver for me (probably all of us).  I think thats the best advice...get on here, early and often.  Once he is at RTC, find his divsion discussion group, you'll make good friends there.  The 8 weeks of RTC are the longest...Now its okay, things are settling down.  Of course, today the 5/6'er dive prep group started their "real" training.  Up until now they've been in preliminary stuff.  I still haven't heard from my boy...but,the Navy mantra holds.  "No news is good news"  Welcome!

Hi Cindies!
It is really helpful to hear the excitement your son has about Navy Diving. That is an encouragement. Mamas an ...spell ck :(... Do u have that feeling of suspense?

Hi Cindy, I'm a Cindy too...also with a youngish son.  He will turn 19 in July and is still in dive prep.  Communication isn't much better than at RTC.  Of course, the Navy mantra holds, "no news is good news".  smile.  It must feel great to know that he has the hardest behind him.  TxSandCrab  and I both have sons there now...they were together, PIR 5/6.  They are just now starting official prep...I know it will get especially difficult from here on out.  How many divers did your son's group lose during dive prep?  Its kind of scary to think so many drop during this phase.  Good to connect!
