Yea, that's our case too with Hawaii - 2 dogs and a cat. Washington is our #1 - there are a few bases around Seattle that are possible duty stations for divers. We used to live in Seattle for my job so we have lots of friends still there. Plus I'm working towards a masters degree and UW is one of the few universities that offer the program. And yea, def better to be together than apart. We'll work it out wherever we go, just would be nice to be back in a city we love :)

Wanderlust: At this point, anywhere that we can live together, is where I want to be! CT is still his #1, but I don't particularly care about it one way or another, every base has its pros and cons for me.  I just want to know, so I can start figuring everything else out.  Hawaii would be cool, but it'd also be a logistical nightmare to get my bulldog over with us.  So hopefully we find out within the next few weeks.  Where do you guys want to go?

PNW: I hear ya! I've been thinking about it since he signed up. Some bases we would be over the moon ecstatic about moving to and others I would be on the floor crying hysterically... ok that's dramatic but it's def a big deal :) I've always heard they would get orders after pool week, which is in a few weeks, but my husband did say that he heard it could be before too. Who knows... within a month I would imagine.

How do you feel about Hawaii? I think your husband mentioned you guys wanted CT, is that still #1 choice?

So my husband told me that we can be expecting orders any day now, and it's all i can think about now!  I just wanna know where we are going, and when we'll find out!  All he kept saying was that they were sat down, and told Hawaii is a strong possibility, so we should prepare for that.  Has anyone else heard that? Does anyone, by chance, have a better idea as to when we'll get orders?  (it's hopeless, but i just had to ask..)

Welcome Caronms, this has been a great site for me during my son's boot camp.  He just graduated last Friday and is in Dive Prep now.  His class was put on hold until enough drivers graduate to fill the class. I think he starts on the 23rd.

He has his cell, laptop, music and a few casual clothes to hang out in.  He went into Chicago Sunday night with a few guys and had to wear his uniform.

My son left last Thursday for Boot Camp as a diver.  No PIR date yet but hopefully the letter will come soon.  I have been wondering what happens after bootcamp.  All I know is he'll be in pre-diving and then to FL for diver training.  Don't know yet what he is allowed to have or not have, but I guess we'll figure that all out as we go along.

What a great day for our seal team. God bless our sailors.

After my son pir I bought him a huge backpack with his clothes that he wanted and got some warm hats , gloves n winter jacket. He was in pre dive during winter season. Just send what they like to wear. Space is limimted in their room on base and they have room inspection so limit on sending uneseccary clothes. My son travel with his issue. Duffle bag, back pack, n another military bag. His civilian clothes all fit in one huge back pack. Its amazing how much they can fit ina bag. They become pro at folding clothes. My son has taught me how they r taught to fold their clothes lol. I am sure other moms out there agree with me. Bye

There's no real limit as to how much, but whatever you bring them has to all fit in their sea bags for when they travel to FL after dive prep. He was there in the winter so I brought coats and pants and all that. Before he left for FL I went up there again and took stuff home with me so he could fit it all. He still had to borrow a guy's sea bag in addition to his to fit everything. He likes to be in civilian clothes whenever possible so he had a lot.

Yes, we are talking about Dive Prep.  I am packing jeans, shorts, a hoodie and 3/4 tee shirts, 1 shirt with a collar, boxers and socks, favorite toiletries, favorite sneakers.  It all fits in a small duffel and anything he does not want, I can bring home.
