We were able to find a condo on VRBO.com (vacation rental by owner).  I don't recall what it cost but it was much less expensive than a hotel.  We had a 2 bedroom condo; full kitchen, 2 bath... it was nice.  Our sailor graduated from Panama City Aug 2013 as a Diver.  Bring the tissues, I know my pride was coming out of my eyes enough to fill buckets.

Thanks for the condo idea, we're looking into it...La Quinta for 7 nights with a military discount is still 1,200..Any suggestions on grad gifts, or challenge coins? Thanks!

Congratulations Mom's!! Graduation is nice! My son was in a class of 17. Great ceremony! The tour is worth the time. Very impressive.

There are plenty of hotels reasonably priced. For families wanting to enjoy the beach there are private condos for rent at reasonable costs. Worth researching to get a beach view!

Welcome to the group and Hooyah!

Hello2u, the Navy Lodge is booked...so La Quinta it is!...I'll actually be leaving for PC a few days before graduation...not sure when to book the flight home though. We'll be sure to take the grand tour...I'm hoping there's no limit to the amount of guests...I'm thinking there will 7-8 of us! I'm so excited...by the time grad. gets here it will have been 6 1/2 months since I've seen him....Hope your Sailor is doing well, and thank you so much for the info!

for sure try for the navy lodge suite, it was really decent! :)

@Splashmom,,, yes, PC is nice! Ask your son to try to get you a suite at the navy lodge, reserve it before grad. If not there's a hotel across the street, near Hooters Restuarant, unfornately!  forgot the name of it. it was nice staying there, . After grad, ask for the grand tour, we also went to the calm beach and rented a canoe :)   so if he knows his for sure grad date and all goes well, plan now!

Haven't been on in awhile, they've changed the layout!

Jeannette, if you haven't yet, you need to join the group with your recruits PIR date...it is loaded with info!!

My son is currently at the end of his training in Panama City. I know NOTHING about the up-coming navy diver graduation, where to stay, etc! Is there anyone out there who can give me some tips? My sailor can't tell me much until he gets his orders! Thanks in advance for any info...

Hello2u...thanks for the good luck wishes...I'm hoping you may have some info for me!

@s. Gl dive prep is not as bad as dive school in fl. From what I've learned. But he must pass all tests to move on. See YouTube.com for examples
