Yes, LadyHawk, it is a possibility.
It will all depend on the openings at his time of graduation where he goes.

Hi, my husband just classed up down in panama city. I would love any info you have. Unfortunately he left his phone in Great Lakes after prep and we are waiting for it to be sent. :( I am hopping on here to see if anyone has a son or husband in his class????

I have learn to take day by day with the navy. Things can change. The guys do not know from day to day what will happen. I hope everything works out for him. The main thing is that he needs to be extremly comfortable in water. You can be as fit as you can but you also need to make the water your comfort zone. That's the part that gets many of the guys. Did you google navy diver to get some information and also on youtube. Takecare

Yea his PIR was 10/8. He came in with a Seal contract and switched to Navy diver midway through BC, which is why he has to wait so long to start dive prep. If he would have sworn in with a diver contract his BC date would have been earlier or later to be with other divers. It's not ideal, but the bright side is he gets plenty of time to get back in shape after boot camp! :)

Wanderlust. Is he finish bc. If he is then they should start dive prep in a couple of weeks. It usually takes about that time. My son waited for one week. It is very hard to find anything out because they only know from day to day. it might depend on how many instructors are available. I think it is very very unusal to wait 3 months. hope this helps. liza

Since my husband switched from Seal to diver in the middle of boot camp he has to wait until January to start dive prep. Diver candidates from BC come in each week and as mentioned below they are waiting to get a class together. In the meantime, both diver and EOD guys that are waiting to start prep are working out together each day with instructors and doing a little classwork. My husband is having to wait 3 months in GL to start dive prep but I believe that's unsual since he switched. From what I've heard, after dive prep it seems within a week or so they are in Panama City.

Mm thanks I was not sure if they had to wait to go to panama city. I know my sons roomate r waiting on next class to start. I can't imagine how dive prep is in the winter. I know the guys are in the lake every week and running outside with their wet clothes on. Its about 30 degrees outside and windy. God bless their souls. Thx again

Hey gerry when you say class up. Do you mean after dive prep they still have to wait at gl to go to panama city. My son is just hanging on by a thread right now . Its a very rough school but if your heart is into it you will be ok.

Gerry, Very true--very grueling. But loved every minute of it. And now loving every minute of being a diver.
