khoov00-your son should have a chance to test for special ops in boot camp. He needs to do it then. Once he is sent to A school it is get harder (not impossible) to go special ops as the Navy is already investing money into his schooling.

My son is currently in bc. He was originally planning on going to BUDS but didn't qualify because of his vision being slightly off. His plan was to go in as an AM, get lasik and then try to go to BUDS. Now he's thinking he wants to do the training to be a Navy diver (which mom told him to look into before he left but he didn't listen) and I'm wondering will he be able to request this when he goes to Pensacola for A school? Or does he have to complete A school and then request the change? Or is he stuck for now with what he originally chose? His ASVAB score was really high so that's not a problem.

I am new to the Navy world and have a son who will leave for BC on 15 Dec to become an EOD diver -- I am not new to the military as I am a Air Force widow, but new to this environment -- I am looking to hopefully connect with other moms of EOD divers --

Hello Everyone I hope everyone's kids are doing well at dive prep. I know my son said he was sick today. They had to jump in lake. I bet that was cold. He said it was cool. lol. Its a tough road for them but with our prayers they will be okay. Does anyone knows the routine for when they get to dive school, is it going to be this grueling like dive prep. And if he fails will he be able to try again. Thanks

If they are in GL, there is a nearby place that makes cupcakes, home made and delivers them right to base...GOOGLE it. I can't think of the name right off hand!
