richsmom, did you talk to your son? I have talked to mine a couple times this week. He loves their instructors and says they are all doing good and staying out of trouble. He says the goal is to keep your instructors happy.

kerry Hi!! How is your son making out? Rich tells me just about nothing. OK nothing. I've been leaving him alone this week because I though think they started training on Tuesday. But, he's off the hook tonight. I'm calling him. I'll share any info I may get.

richsmom...thanks for the info. I've been watching the discovery channel's "make the cut". My son said that some of the drills are the same, but these are army combat drivers not deep sea so many items are different.

Iniapul I googled navy diver last night and read this:
Upon graduation from RTC and successfully completeing the PST you will go to the Navy Diver preparation COI lacated at NTC (32 training days to include 20 days of Basic Electrical and Engineering COI and 12 days of Diver preparation. Upon completion of Navy iver prearation COI you will proceed to Second Class Diver Training, at Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center in Panama City, Fl (70 training days). Instruction includes diving physics and medicine, SCUBA, surface supported diving systems, various underwater breasthing apparatus, underwater tools and work techniques, and underwater cutting and welding procedures. Course qualifies trainess to a maximum depth of 190 feet.
Following successful completion of Navy Diver Training, the Navy Diver candidate will graduate from the Naval Diving and Salvage Training enter and receive their Second Class Diver Insignia. The qualified Second Class Diver will then be assigned to one of the following: a Salvage or Repair ship, a Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit, and EOD Unit, or SEAL/USMC Unit as a Navy Diver. Upon arrival at either of these units, the Second Class Diver will hone the undersea diving and salvage skill required by the USN. Following a prescribed training "work-up", the Second Class Diver will deploy to coinduct numerous operations as listed in the beginning.
Hope this helps. If you find out anything please let me know. :o)

Good morning ladies, It is nice just being able to pick up the phone and talk to them. My son so far likes his dive buddy. They have also been talking to the class that is getting ready to finish so they are aware that this prep school is going to be way harder than bootcamp. I think they are just ready to get started!

Hi Andrews and richsmom nice to see you two here! :) Bren thank you so much for the info I will definately let my husband know. What is so nice is that I get to talk to him every night and he gets to say goodnight to our kids. WOW what a change from bootcamp. :) He said he is working out after their classes during the day running and such but I think he said they are doing that on their own. I assume that means until their official class starts?
