Gatormom, If he's made it halfway, and passed RLP, he will hopefully be OK now, even though still many stressful challenges to get through.  My son was assigned overnight watch duty one night at the front desk, so he had to stay awake all night, got back to his room at 0430, then had to get ready for PT at 0500, then stay awake in classes all day!  He was awake about 38 hours straight before he could sleep again, but he will probably face that same situation aboard a ship, so at least he knows he can do it!!!     Things will get better for your son once they get to be Candios (candidate officers) after week nine.  Even though busy, his class will then be "running things," so some stress is over.  Then you can send him a Candio box full of all sorts of goodies that he hasn't been allowed to have so far.  Most of the Candios make themselves sick by eating all that sugar and junk food that they had been "detoxed" from for nine weeks!

My LO has officially hit the 1/2 way mark at OCS. Hell week this week to get through. Hoping for the best. We have so much to learn. He's put in for 30 days leave as soon as he graduates so fingers crossed. Sounds like it will be his last break in quite some time once school in Charleston begins.

My son, was on the Green Bay sister ship to the: Mesa Verde, San Antonio, NewYork and San Diego.  Yes, they are great ships!  He very much enjoyed his Air Command on the Green Bay.

Congratulations, Azcruiz'inmom. My son is on a destroyer now, but his first ship was the Mesa Verde, a sister to the San Antonio. We participated in the Tiger Cruise when they came back from deployment, and it was really interesting to see the ship and how things work. I hope she enjoys the Norfolk area. It has a lot to offer.

Our daughters will be on the same ship.  Mine will start in August sometime.
