Hello, I am new to this site and the group.  My son is a Sea Cadet and we live in CT.  Please feel free to reach out if you are a Sea Cadet mom.  Looking to connect with other Sea Cadet families and expand my network.

Thanks,

Hey Berina, I am a fellow Sea Cadet mom and an officer as well. Thanks for joining the group. What age(s) is/are your child(ren)?
Hello Karla...thank you for responding to my note. To answer your question I have only one child, a son, he just turned 16. He joined the Sea Cadets two years ago. He just got a very nice Citation for serving as Staff at Fort Indiantown GAP, PA boot camp this summer. I will try to upload a photo of him receiving his Citation (he is the tall one).

Cool! Your son is very handsome. Tell him I said congratulations on the Citation.
Thanks Karla...I will tell him. I did not realize how important a Citation was until I started reading up on it. He wants to get into the Naval Academy and we are hoping that (along with good grades and football) Sea Cadet journey will help his candidacy. He is also trying to get into the Naval Academy Junior STEM program next summer...we'll see. I am happy to have found this site where I can get some advice as he prepares for his career.
Hello Brenda,

I'm brand new to this site and this group. My 16-year-old daughter is a Sea Cadet in northern IN. She has no intention of joining the Navy, but enjoys Sea Cadets, especially the summer opportunities. If your son is interested in Scuba diving, the Great Lakes division has an awesome program on a retired Navy boat exploring shipwrecks in Lake Huron.

We used to live in Glastonbury and Marlborough, CT -- back in early 1990s. Where are you?

Susan
Hello proud Mom, as I know I am proud of my daughter.  We live in California and my daughter Nicole has been in the Sea Cadets since June 2010.  She is currently on her 1st training (she completed her boot camp in July) and is currently taking Hospital Corpsman Training in San Luis Obispo, Ca.  It began on Christmas day.  She really enjoys this program and has been excelling tremendously since starting.  How long has your son been in the program?  What are his plans?
